Week 1 Highlights:
For the first time in league history, we had a tie game in the first week of the season with the DaBruDoggies and The Bug evening out at 77 points. The rookie Bugs scored most of their points on offense, although we didn't see big numbers by the squad. The Brus saw little production from their offense and relied on their Rams DST to produce with a whopping 2 TDs, 4 sacks, 2 INTs, and a safety for 38 total points.
Coming in to the season, the Lancelot Links haven't lost an opening game since the league started keeping records back in the 2010 season. And, they continued their winning ways this opener, beating the Dancers 98-74. The Links saw TDs from three of their ball carriers. And, QB Newton threw for 2. Although, his INT held him back a little. On the Dancers side of the ball, QB Mariota didn't put up any TD passes. But, his rushing TD was the highlight of the team, as well as a rushing TD from RB Gordon.
With the Kibble Bowl trophy in hand, the Bad Ass Weazels continued their momentum going into the new season, handily taking out the Dabalalas 123-76. Oddly enough, only two of the Weazels players scored TDs. But, they scored an impressive three each, three thrown by QB Bradford, and three from RB Hunt (1 Rush and 2 Rec). The Las saw decent numbers from WR Hill's 133 yards and a TD, and QB Wentz's 2 TD passes, one of which being a 58 yarder for a bonus 2. The Dabalalas played the game with suspended WR Snead in the starting lineup. But, it didn't really matter as no one on the bench could have saved them.
The Manassholes were the only rookie team to win in Week 1 with a 79-59 win over Password is Taco. Other than their Broncos DST, WR Nelson was the only player on the Tacos to put up double digits. Probably because he was the only player to score a TD. The M-holes got a decent effort from their Packers DST who held their opponents to just field goals. And, QB Ryan benefited from a bonus 2 thanks to an 88 yard TD pass.
It was a rough week for the Pandemic of Love. They had two players who put up no points at all. And, only one ball carrier put up a TD. It didn't help them that they left a bunch of points on the bench. The fortunes were better for the ic chargers. Half of their ball carriers scored double digits. Most impressive was WR Diggs and his 2 TDs. This was a fairly easy one for the chargers, beating the Pandemic 110-66.
With the departure of the Killer Bunnies and the Mighty Long Dogs, the Love Supremes and the Halfs Smokes are our last remaining cross-house rivals. And, Smokies owner Nathan ruled the house last week, taking out the Supies 103-84. The Loves did well by their Steelers DST with a TD and 7 sacks. But, it was definitely QB Brady who let the team down with no TD passes. It was the opposite for Smokies QB Carr who threw 2 TD passes. And, RB Gillislee was impressive with 3 rushing TDs.
Game Of The Week Preview:
Our game of the week features the Bad Ass Weazels and Lancelot Links. The Weazels are our reigning Kibble Bowl Champion and one of only three BFL teams to win the trophy twice. They'll face the mighty Links who've, despite having never one the championship, have reached the playoffs five times in the last six seasons and have won the high scoring title three times. It's a little early in the season to predict the outcome of this game. But, we at IADP won't be surprised if we see big numbers in this game. And, we won't be surprised to see these two teams in the playoffs.
We're calling this one the "Battle of the Big Boys".
Good luck all! See you next edition!
