Week 14: Playoffs

We've made it. Week 14. The Playoffs. All six playoff teams have been here before. And, all but five have made it to the big game. So, they're all familiar with the excitement.

Week 13 Highlights:
It was a close one, but the Half Smokes couldn't get it done. Their loss to the Killer Bunnies, along with a win by the Dancers, kept them one spot outside of the playoffs. Of course, it's always easy to play could've/should've after a game, but we have to point out that benched QB Cousins outscored starter Hasselbeck by 8 points, just enough to have beaten the Bunnies. The positives for the Smokies were their runners who combined for 35 points. And WR M Bryant had one of his best. The biggest positive for the Bunnies was QB Rodgers' 2 TD's, one of which being a bonus 61 yarder. The Killer Bunnies took this one 103-96 and maintained their playoff position. The Half Smokes end their season 6-7.

The Cheesesteaks beat the Lancelot Links thanks to a monster effort by QB Mariota and his 3 passing TD's for 41 points. Also, their Chiefs DEF produced a TD and 3 Int's.  The Lancelot Links scored their second lowest score of the season. That is most likely because they played the game with injured TE Gronkowski in the lineup. Although, since the Links were in first place, the loss didn't effect their playoff spot other than dropping them one position. In our playoff analysis last week, we pointed out that the Steaks needed three things to happen in order to get in. Two of those did happen. They beat the Links, and the Mighty Long Dogs and Half Smokes lost. But, they didn't score enough points to overtake those two teams and thus, ended the season at 6-7.

For the second week in a row, the Dancers had a huge game with a 152-110 win over the Bad Ass Weazels. Their passing attack was on fire with their receivers accounting for 493 total yards and 5 TD's. Plus, QB Wilson scored 40+ points for the second week in a row thanks to a bonus 53 yard TD pass. The Weazels weren't as fortunate, but still had a good game thanks to QB Newton's 5 TD's. The loss ends the Bad Ass Weazels season at 5-8 . The Dancers have climbed their way from 11th place back in week 6 to 5th place this week, enough to put them in the hunt for the Kibble Bowl.

Thanks to QB Bortles, the DaBruDoggies won against the Dabalalas 103-90. The QB threw 5 TD passes and 300+ yards. There were a few other TD's by the rest of the team, but there were no big standouts other than that. Unfortunately, there were a whole lot of points left on the Brus bench. The Las also had a big game by their QB. Taylor threw 3 and rushed for a single. Unlike the Brus, the Las saw much better production form their RB's. But, once again, the Las left injured WR Edelman in the starting lineup. Although, none of their backups scored enough to have changed the outcome. The Dabalalas weren't in the playoff hunt and ended their season 4-9. The Brus weren't in any danger of not making it in.

Even though there was nothing at stake for the Pandemic of Love, they end their 4-8-1 season on a winning note, beating the Mighty Long Dogs 108-84. Their running game couldn't find the endzone, but all of their WR's did. And, QB Stafford threw 2. Even their Vikings DST returned one. They lost TE Gillmore to an injury during the game, but the rest of the receivers made up for it. For the Longdogs, depite the lost, they made it into the playoffs. And, they were very fortunate they did thanks to losses by the Half Smokes and ic chargers.

It's no surprise that the Love Supremes won with a huge score, stomping on the ic chargers 144-111. Of course, QB Brady put up multiple TD's for 36 total points. And, of course top 10 ranked WR's Beckham and Marshall combined for 180 and 2 TD's. And, of course their topped ranked Broncos DST scored 31 points. And, of course the RB that the Supies picked up just two weeks ago scored 22. The ic chargers did see some good numbers thanks to QB Fitzpatrick's 2 TD's, WR Brown's 2, and WR Green's 1. But, they didn't see a lot of production from their RB's. It's unfortunate that the icees had to face the top ranked Supies in this crucial game because had they won, they would have made it into the playoffs. Instead, they end their season 5-7-1.

Playoff Preview:

The Mighty Long Dogs are on a quest to become the third BFL team to win the championship twice. But, they have to go through the DaBruDoggies to do it. The Brus have been to the big game three times, the last time being against the Longdogs in Kibble Bowl VI. But, they have yet to hold the trophy.

The Longdogs front office has been working hard to shore up their receiving squad with the recent pickups of TE's Seferian-Jenkins and Tye to replace the injured Bennett. The former is facing a woeful Saint's DEF and should do well.

The production on the Brus roster has really been a rollercoaster this season. Marquee QB Brees has been hit or miss, unlike in previous seasons for the Brus. And, he's been out-shined a few times by backup Bortles. Their RB's haven't put up consistent numbers. For the most part, the Brus receivers have held their own, so they'll need the running squad to step up to win this one.

It will be an interesting matchup between the Killer Bunnies and the Dancers. The Bunnies are on a four game wins streak. The Dancer have won their last two in a row, but those two wins were by huge margins.

There is uncertainty on the Bunnies roster and that may just determine how successful they will be. As of this posting, WR Amendola was limited in practice due to an injury a couple of weeks ago. Although, he did play last week, and played well. Just in case, the Bunnies have other WR's on their bench to choose from. The Bunnies should do ok as long as QB Rodgers does as well as he's capable of.

There's only one strategy the Dancers need to employ this week, the same one they have in the last two games where they put up 161 and 152 points. And, there's no reason they shouldn't this week. QB Wilson has a favorable matchup against the Ravens DEF. And, all of their WR's have pretty good matchups, as well as RB Lacy. We at IADP think this may be the Dancers' game to lose.

Good luck playoff teams! See you next edition!
