Week 13

It's here! The final week of the regular season. It's been a long season of knock down drag 'em out battles to make it to the playoffs and, ultimately, the Kibble Bowl. Four teams are locked in. Six teams are in a last minute battle for those wildcard spots. The BFL! There's none other like it!

Note to Owners:
For those of you who gave me checks, I will be depositing them this week.

Week 12 Highlights:
Despite a lackluster game from marquee QB Brees, the DaBruDoggies managed to beat the Half Smokes 90-70. The score was looking pretty low for both teams going into Monday night, 51-61, with the Smokies playing their kicker and the Brus playing two WR's and their TE. Fortunately for the Brus, those two WR's, Aiken and Benjamin, both scored TD's. The game was a heart-breaker for the Halvsies for two reason. First, QB Romo threw 3 INT's before leaving the game, and the rest of the season, with a clavicle injury. Second, backup Cousins had a good game, running and passing for a TD and a bonus 2 for 26 total points. The Half Smokes loss seriously jeopardizes their playoff chances in that they dropped from 3rd to 7th place.

If you were worried that the Love Supremes were losing their touch after dropping three games in a row, all three of which being their lowest points of the season, no need. They were back to their dominating ways, taking out the Pandemic of Love 158-99. The Supies air attack couldn't be stopped. QB Brady threw 3 TD passes, one of which being a 63 yarder for a bonus 2. And, their receiving squad combined for 5 TD's and 362 yards. Then there's RB Anderson's 2 TD's and 153 total yards. The Pandemic actually had their second best game of the season thanks to WR Maclin's 22 points and their Viking DEF's 21. And despite 3 INT's, QB Manning managed a respectable 18 points. But, against the dominant Supies, the Pandemic had no chance.

Despite a big effort by their defense and passing players, the ic chargers didn't put up enough to withstand the Mighty Long Dogs, losing the game 111-99. ic QB Fitzpatrick had a huge game, throwing 4 TD passes. WR Green was also successful with 2 TD's. And, their Bengals DEF also scored one of their own. The Longdogs were a little more balanced, but did have a standout performance from WR Johnson who caught 3 TD passes. The Mighty Long Dogs win moved them up to 5th place, putting them back into the playoff picture. The ic chargers loss drops them to 8th place.

Much like their matchup back in week 2, it wasn't a high-scoring game between the Killer Bunnies and the Dabalalas. But, the Bunnies swept the series, winning this one 78-66. It didn't help the Las that they started injured WR Edelman. Although, none of their backups scored enough to have made a difference in the outcome. Also, there were a whole lot of single digits for the Las including RB's Gore and Miller, and 0 from WR Jones. The Bunnies didn't get big numbers from their runners, but got a couple of TD's from their WR's. And, despite allowing 20 points, their DEF kept the game manageable thanks to 3 sacks, a Fum. Rec, and an INT.

The Lancelot Links scored below their 126 point average. But, who cares. They continued their dominance of the league, beating the Bad Ass Weazels 115-107. The Weazels running game did well with both Ware and Rawls finding the endzone. It was probably QB Newton who held the Weazels back from winning this one. And, that's only because he had his lowest point total in four weeks. Although, 17 points isn't nothing. For the Links, it was the Peterson Show. The RB had a huge game with 2 TD's and over 150 rushing yards. WR Landry was also strong with 22 points. And, TE Gronkowski had another decent effort before leaving the game with a knee injury.

The Dancers had their best game ever in their eight years in the BFL, scoring a whopping 161 points. The biggest contributor for the Dancers was QB Wilson who threw 5 TD passes, one of which being an 80 yarder for a bonus 2. But, he wasn't the only one with big numbers. WR Watkins scored 2 TD's and K Gano kicked 4 field goals, including a 50+ yarder for a bonus 2. Equally impressive was their Panthers DEF and their 2 TD's and 3 INT's. Their opponent, the Cheesesteaks, had a few solid efforts from RB Williams, WR Hilton, and TE Thomas. But, they didn't have too much of a chance against the Dancers. The Dancers dominated this one 161-97, propelling them to 6th place, and opening up the door to a playoff birth.

Playoff Picture:
1st Place, Lancelot Links (9-3):  First round Bye secured.

2nd,  Love Supremes (8-4):  First round Bye secured.

3rd,  DaBruDoggies  (7-5):  Playoff spot secured.

4th,  Killer Bunnies  (7-5):  Playoff spot secured.

5th,  Mighty Long Dogs (6-6):  Must win or score enough points if they lose.

6th,  Dancers (6-6): Must win or score enough points if they lose..

7th,  Half Smokes (6-6):  Must win and Mighty Long Dogs and/or Dancers must lose. Or, if all three win, Smokies will need to score enough points to overtake Long Dogs or Dancers on the score leaderboard.

8th,  ic chargers (5-6):  Must win and need Mighty Long Dogs, Dancers, or Half Smokes to lose.

9th,  Bad Ass Weazels (5-7): Outside chance if (1) they beat the Dancers, (2) the Mighty Long Dogs and/or Half Smokes lose, and (3) they score enough points.

10th,  Cheesesteaks (5-7): Same situation as the Weazels, but only if they beat the Lancelot Links.

The Pandemic of Love are in a position to ruin it for the Mighty Long Dogs. And, that is why their matchup is our game of the week.

Game Of The Week Preview:

The fate of the Mighty Long Dogs rests partially in the hands of the Pandemic of Love. The Longdogs are 6-6. The Half Smokes (tied with) and ic chargers (one game behind) are right at the doorstep. A loss to the Pandemic, in combination with a win by the Smokies knocks the Longdogs out if the Dancers and or the icees win also. However, they'd still have a chance if the Dancers and/or the Half Smokes lose. But, only if they score enough points to outscore their season totals.

The Long Dogs have a good chance of winning. But, some of that depends on the health of their roster. As of this posting, WR Johnson is questionable and backup Brown hasn't practice fully. Although, it looks like Brown is expected to play. QB Tannehill should see some decent numbers as he will face a weak Baltimore pass defense.

The Pandemic's success may just depend on which QB decides to show up for the game. It's happened a few times this season that their starting QB hasn't come through, but the benched QB had a huge game. Also, key to a Love win is RB McCoy who has found the endzone in three of his last four outings. He has to find it this week.

Good luck all! See you next edition!
