Week 6

Great BFL teams are not born great, they grow great.

Week 5 Highlights:
The Bad Ass Weazels were unfortunate and fortunate at the same time. They lost RB Charles to an ACL injury. Fortunately, Charles put up over 80 yards before he left the game. Just enough to lift the them over the Killer Bunnies, 107-102. The Weazels also found good fortune in QB Dalton and his 300+ yards and 2 TD's. The Bunnies were within reach going into the Monday night game with TE Green yet to play. Green put up 11 points the previous week. But, his lack of TD's hurt the Bunnies in Week 5. QB Rodgers also contributed to the loss with 2 INT's.

The DaBruDoggies managed their second win this season, beating the Cheesesteaks 100-79. It wasn't looking good early on for the Brus. QB Brees fumbled twice and threw an INT. But, late in the game, Brees, as well as RB Forte and WR Cooks, scored TD's in the last few minutes to seal the win. RB Bell and WR Hurns did predictably well for the Steaks. But, it was probably QB Ryan that lost this one for the Cheeses. Ryan threw 2 INT's and not a single TD. At 0-5, the Cheesesteaks are having their worst start ever. We're guessing heads will roll over in the Steaks front office.

It was almost a one-man show for the Pandemic of Love in their loss to the Dabalalas. QB Manning was on fire with over 400 passing yards and 3 TD's. Other than Manning, the rest of the team had it a little rougher and none managed any TD's. WR Maclin did put up a decent 85 receiving yards. The Las recovered from a bad Week 4 with a balanced game, although they played the game with an inactive WR. Fortunately, they scored 5 offensive TD's which made up for the coaching oversight and resulted in a 90-78 score.

The ic chargers suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Half Smokes. chargers WR Edelman was the only starter to find the endzone. And, QB Manning had a hard week, throwing 2 INT's and no TD's. Only three players scored TD's for the Half Smokes. Fortunately, one of those was their Packers DST which shined with that TD, as well as 3 sacks and 4 INT's, accounting for a third of the Smokies total, and leading them to a 92-63 win.

The Love Supremes continue to dominate as they handily toppled the Dancers 159-81. The Supies dominated on all sides of the ball. QB Brady tossed 2 and ran in for a TD. Their RB's combined for almost 250 rushing yards and 2 TD's. Their receivers combined for over 270 yards and 3 TD's. Their Broncos DST produced 4 sacks and a TD. The only mistep for the Supies was WR Moncrief measly 3 yards. With WR's Harvin and Jeffery putting up no yards, and RB Lacy only rushing for 27, there was no chance of the Dancers overcoming the Supies dominance.

After a minor setback, the Lancelot Links are back to their high-scoring ways. BFL record-holding RB Martin led the way for the Links with 3 TD's and 158 total yards. QB Palmer had his lowest yardage of the season, but his 3 TD's totally made up for it. And, WR Boldin did his part with a TD and 100+ yards. On the Mighty Long Dogs side of the ball, despite QB Bradford's 300+ yards and 2 TD's, his 2 INT's hurt the Long Dogs. Although, hurt is a bit of a strong word considering this was the Dogs second best game of the season. But, the Links were just too strong, winning this one 137-104.

Game of the Week Spotlight:
We traveled to the practice facilities of our Week 6 "Game of the Week" teams, the Mighty Long Dogs and Dabalalas, for comments from their owners about their upcoming matchup.

You both are Kibble Bowl winners, two of the 22 teams that are or have been a part of the BFL. Both of you are currently 2-3. One of you will end this week at .500. One of you will find yourselves grasping for a shovel. Which of you will be handing that shovel to the other.

Mighty Long Dogs: Shovels? We're barely halfway through the season and you're all ready bringing up shovels?!? We don't need no stinking shovels!!! The Mighty Long Dogs are well versed on digging holes and won't be in need of no help from shovels! It is true... the recent relocation of the franchise has perhaps lead to a less than good looking start. The Long Dogs ain't so pretty this year and we gotta win lots of games playing real ugly. But that's okay. If that's the way it's gotta be... then that's the way it's gonna be. We'll take every win... ugly or not. We are confident that if we remain focused on the prize and execute the game plan in a more positive fashion, we can achieve our goal of making the playoffs for the folks of our new city. Then you'll see some ugly! Ya'll know that anything can happen once you get that golden ticket to the playoffs. The Dogs are ready to get our ticket punched and run it through to a 2nd league championship. As for the Dabalala... lalala... lalalalas, they can use those shovels to start building a big pile... a hugh mound... a humongous heap... one which we shall stand upon and hold the grand trophy in all ya'll's general direction.

Dabalalas: It's cute that you think a shovel will be suffice when it's more like a backhoe will be needed. Let me make one thing perfectly clear, one of us will win, and more than likely it will be the team who scores the most points.

Game of the Week Preview:

How well the Dabalalas do may end up depending on their passing game. As of this posting, there is a question of whether QB Taylor will be able to play, as he is dealing with knee issues. And, Las backup Foles is on a Bye. Another question is, with both WR's Cobb and Jones facing a Chargers defense that is ranked 9th against the pass, can the Las receiving core put up the numbers needed to overcome?

The Mighty Long Dogs have some good matchups, and they look healthy this week. Although, WR Brown is sporting a hamstring issue. But, his coaches seem to think he'll be able to play.

It looks like this might be the Long Dogs' game to lose. IADP is predicting that this game will end with the Dogs looking down over the Las and watching them dig themselves out of a hole.

Good luck all! See you next edition!
