Week 5

For those of you who may not know, this is the final resting place for six passing members of the BFL. They were buried here, together. Six owners, six teams (Wondertwin Powers, Romosexual Tendencies, In It To Win It, Good Kind of Limping Scrod, Pablos, Easy Wins), six has-beens. This is our past, gentlemen. This is where we have been. This is how we got here. This is who we are. When you take the field this week, you've gotta lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you've got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows. And, if you do that. . . If you do that, . . you cannot lose. You may be behind on the scoreboard at the end of the game. But, if you play like that, you cannot be defeated. You understand me? How you play today, from this moment on, is how you will be remembered. This is your opportunity to rise from these ashes and grab glory. . . the Kibblebowl trophy!

Week 4 Highlights:
It was a tight game, but the Pandemic of Love won their first game of the season against the Half Smokes, 95-93. The MVP of the game was definitely Pandemic QB Manning and his 3 TD's, one of which being a bonus 51 yarder. It was the Smokies DEF that helped keep this a close game. They held the 49ers to just 3 points and produced 6 sacks and an INT. The Smokies offense could have benefited from a another TD or two as RB Randle and WR Baldwin were the only players to make it into the endzone.

The ic chargers scored their lowest points so far this season. Fortunately for them, the Dabalalas scored less, losing to the chargers 80-63. The reason? All of the Las runners and receivers only managed single digits. WR Jones did well with 98 Rec yards. But, he didn't find the endzone for the first time this season. The chargers won thanks to a running game that combined for 29 points.

"They don't call me the 'Giant Killer' for nothing!" That was the statement from Love Supremes owner Lori last week. Well, it looks like she proved that statement with a win over the undefeated and top scoring Lancelot Links 118-95. TD's for the Supies included 2 from QB Carr, and a single for WR Allen and TE Rodgers. But, it was RB Freeman that stole the show with 3 TD's. and 140+ total yards. The Links were let down by WR Jones who put up his first single digit performance of the season. It wasn't a horrible game for the Links. But, it just wasn't enough to stop the Love Train.

The Dancers didn't have much of a chance against the Mighty Long Dogs and a monster effort by Longdogs QB Bradford. Bradford's 3 TD's, one of which being a bonus 61 yarder, cemented the 111-79 win. The Dancers receiving core had major issues with no TD's and an average of 2.75 points. The bright spot for the Dancers was their DST which scored an impressive 28 points thanks to a TD and 4 INT's. For the Dogs, their passing game was complimented by a couple of TD's and over 200 receiving yards.

A heartbreaker for the Cheesesteaks in a 2 point loss to the Killer Bunnies. It was actually the Steaks best game of the season. And, it was RB Bell's TD and 150 combined yards that kept the game close for the Steaks. The game was tied going into Monday night with the Killer Bunnies WR Tate yet to play. Well, of course, it only takes 10 yards for a point. Tate managed that and one more to ice the cake. The result was a 93-91 win for the Bunnies and more woes for the winless Cheesesteaks.

The DaBruDoggies have finally won their first game of the season, and it was a tight one over the Bad Ass Weazels. Even though the Brus were ahead by Sunday night, both they and the Weazels had one player left to play, Brus TE Graham and the Weazels Seahawks DST. With only 16 points separating them, the win could've gone either way. In the end, the Brus managed a single point more, beating the Weazels 86-85.

Game of the Week Spotlight:
IADP's reporters are on assignment investigating a ball over-inflation scandal this week. Stay tuned for our exposé "Too-Flate Gate" in a future edition. In the meantime, we asked Ryan, owner of the Pandemic of Love, to conduct our Week 5 Game of the Week Spotlight Interview with the owners of the Cheesesteaks and the DaBruDoggies.

Since you both are last in your division, and this is the fifth game of the season, it's make or break it for each of you. Who is going to lose the worst?

Cheesesteaks: The Steaks had a complete makeover during the offseason and so far it's just not working out. There really are no excuses here- just poor execution. To ALL owners out there- we need a solid WR. Let's make a deal now! All that said, we will be coming away with our first win this week against those dirty dogs. Antonio- If you play Brees prepare for a TERRIBLE LOSS facing that Eagles D that I love so dearly. (Chip and I sat down and had a "come to Jesus") Cheers to a great season!

DaBruDoggies: *sigh*  It's been a rough four games. And, even though we won, that last one was just poor coaching. I mean. . . what coach, in their right mind, starts Kaepernick over Brees, and keeps a top ten RB (Ivory) on the bench?! I've sat down with my coaching staff and put them on notice. The Brus have big dreams! We want fame! We know fame costs. And, we're ready to start paying. . . in sweat. We're hungry. . . VERY hungry. And, a greasy wannabe Cheesesteak might be just what the DaBruDoggies need to boost their winning metabolism. Look for us at the top of the steps of the Museum of Art, raising our arms in victory!

Game of the Week Preview:

It remains to be seen whether the DaBruDoggies can overcome their Bye Week Shuffle with both their top RB (Ivory) and #3 WR (Wallace) resting. On the other hand, a good matchup against a weak Eagles passing defense should give the Brus passing attack a boost.

With Steelers QB Roethlisberger out for a while, they will rely on their running game, and specifically, RB Bell, which should produce good numbers for the Cheesesteaks. The rest of the running squad will need to step up since, as a whole, they haven't made a huge consistent impact.

The Guru is predicting a tight Game of the Week matchup. IADP is 1-1 on predictions, and this one could go either way. We might just abstain from predicting this one.

Good luck all! See you next edition!
