Week 9

The playoff picture is starting to come into view. And, there are a few teams that are right at the easel. There are a few that are on the far end of the gallery. And, there are a few teams that have lost there RSVP's. Things are getting mighty interesting in the BFL!

Week 8 Highlights:
An unbelievable game for the Mighty Long Dogs. Dogs WR Johnson broke a BFL record, scoring a massive 38 points thanks to his TD and 329 Rec Yds. Johnson wasn't the only one who did well for the Dogs. QB Stafford threw for over 488 Yds, their RB's combined for 34, and their DST was strong. Their opponent, the Cheesesteaks, had a decent game. Especially, thanks to their DST's 26 points. But, there wasn't much chance for the Steaks. The Long Dogs took this one 139-103.

It's pretty much a guarantee that if almost your entire team scores in double digits, you are going to win. Such was the case for the Half Smokes in their 148-110 win over the Lancelot Links. The Smokies were impressive on all sides of the ball. QB Newton scored 3 combined TD's. RB Gore scored 2 of his own. Their receiving squad combined 300+ yards and 7 TD's for a total of 74 points. And, their DST put up 2 INT's and 6 sacks. The Smokies only sore spot was RB Jackson's 0 points. It was WR Stills' 2 TD's that impressed on the Links side. And, their Bengal's DST had a monster game, holding the Jets to just 9 points and scoring TD's.

There are two reasons why the Dabalalas beat the Dancers 105-79. QB Romo and their Broncos DST. Romo threw 3 TD's, including a 50 yarder and a 60 yarder for a bonus 4 points. The Broncos DST scored 4 INT's, 3 sacks, and a TD. It also helped that RB McFadden had his best game of the season. After going on a three game win streak where they averaged 111 points, the Dancers performance dropped, with only 2 TD's on the entire team. The plusses? Their Cowboys DST managed a decent 22. And, RB Jones-Drew achieved over 100 yards.

It's hard to win when two of your players score no points and your receiving squad combines for 10 points. But, the DaBruDoggies managed to do it, beating the Pandemic of Love 114-66. The Brus have QB Brees to thank for this win. Brees had a monster day, throwing 5 TD passes, one of which being a 69 yarder for a bonus. The Pandemic were let down again by QB Brady who scored his third single digit game of the season. And, for the second week in a row, RB McCoy had a so so game. The bright spot for the Love was RB Bush's 120 total yards and a TD.

In the last two weeks, the Killer Bunnies took out the top two teams in the BFL, the Lancelot Links in week 7 and the ic chargers in week 8. The Bunnies and the chargers actually performed similarly. Bunny QB Rodgers and charger QB Manning scored only 2 points apart. The teams' defenses were only 1 point apart. And, only 7 points separated the RB's. But, it was the Bunnies receivers that made the difference. Of course, it didn't help that the chargers lost WR Rice in the game, and for the rest of the season. In the end, it was a 125-100 win for the Killers.

A very unlucky game for the Love Supremes. Not, for the points they didn't score, but for the points they left on the bench. Supies QB Griffin had a rough game, scoring only 5 points. But, what makes that stat even harder is that backup QB Dalton scored a massive 41 points thanks to 5 TD passes. On the other side of the coin, the Bad Ass Weazels were lucky in this game. They won despite the fact that TE Fauria didn't see any action and QB Vick was pulled in the first quarter after reaggrivating an injury. It wasn't all luck. The Weazels RB's did a decent job. And K Crosby got plenty of scoring opportunities. The result. A 92-56 loss for the Love Supremes.

Speaking of the Love Supremes, owner Lori is in our Spotlight.

Spotlight:
Lori, it may be too late to make a run for the playoffs at this point. But, is there a game plan to turn the Love Supremes around and end this season on a win streak? After all, you know a thing or two about win streaks, since you own the BFL's Longest Win Streak title.

Playoffs??? Yep, not looking likely. I've finally realized it's time to sit down RGIII. He's obviously not putting up the numbers I had expected he would. Andy Dalton is having the best season of his career so I'm going to give him a chance.

Of course, as soon as I set RGIII down he'll probably explode. But what the heck, at this point in my (losing) season to keep it fun I'm going to take some chances to try to turn it around.

By the way, I'm not sure about the new owner - that half smoke guy. I think we should consider removing him from the league next season. As soon as he joined,my luck ran out. Curious...

Preview:
As of this posting, it looks like coach Lori will sit Griffin and give Dalton a chance against the Cheesesteaks. The Guru has Dalton projected at 10 points. We at IADP have to disagree. The Bengals offense is ranked 9th in total offense and 7th in passing. As long as Dalton takes advantage of his matchup against the Dolphins defense, he should have no problems scoring. The Cheesesteaks have done a lot of shopping this week to shore up on almost all sides of the ball. They should be okay as long as WR Royal plays after having not practiced this week. If not, the Steaks will have to visit the Free Agent Market again.

The DaBruDoggies will be tested this week as they take on the top ranked ic chargers. The Brus will look to rely on passing as usual. With RB Moreno on a Bye, they will be without their top runner. And, their receivers are hit or miss. The chargers should be a little better on the ground with 5th ranked Forte back from his Bye. Co-Runner Thomas may be a different story with his matchup against the top ranked run defense of the Jets. IADP predicts a close one here.

Well, it's finally happened. QB Brady has been benched by Pandemic of Love coach Ryan. It's no surprise considering that he has only averaged 9 points in his last four games. The Pandemic will need to be healthy come game time with their front office being deep in the Bye Week Shuffle. The Killer Bunnies have been on a roll lately and should do well. . . as long as they score above 100. The Bunnies are undefeated when they score above the century mark. And, as long as QB Rodgers takes advantage of the low ranked pass defense of the Bears, they will most likely get it done.

There are a whole lot of question marks on the Lancelot Links roster. A quick glance at their lineup shows more than one player who either didn't practice or who was limited this week. The Links are in the playoff picture. And, after losing their last two games, they'd rather stay that way and not have to dig a hole that they'd have to climb out of. With the Dabalalas knocking on the door of a playoff spot, the Links would welcome a return to their winning ways.

The next team in the Half Smokes cross hairs is the Dancers. There seems to be no stopping the Smokies, who are averaging 120 points per game. And, barring anything major, should keep up their average in week 9. It's worth noting that three of their receivers are top ten in their positions. The Smokies will be held back some with RB Gore on a Bye. But, we're guessing that wont slow them down much. The Dancers will be without one of the top scorers with TE Davis on a Bye. But, they do still have WR Jackson and K Gostkowski in the lineup. They, along with the rest of the starters, will need to fire on all cylinders against the mighty Smokies.

Things must be tense over in the Mighty Long Dogs front office. As of this posting, the statuses of both of the Dogs starting RB's are in question. And, their only backup is on a Bye. Possibly good news for the Bad Ass Weazels since the shelves in the RB aisle at the Free Agent Market are fairly empty. The key to the Long Dogs winning this one is simple. Everyone has to play. Yet another plus for the Weazels, the Dogs are having to start backup QB Tannehill in place of Stafford who is on a Bye.

Good luck all! See you next edition!
