Week 6

IADP sat in on Coach Ryan's post game press conference after the Pandemic of Love's loss to the Dabalalas and got these nuggets.

"The Dabalalas just wanted it more. They left it all on the field. They are better than their record indicates. Brady would like to have that one back. We have to take care of the football. Coach Jim's a throwback."

We get the impression that the coach was trying out some new football clichés.

Week 5 Highlights:
A nailbiter over at Smoke Stadium between the ic chargers and the Half Smokes. With just 5 points separating the teams going into Monday night, this was anyone's game to win. The Smokies players had all played and were ahead, but the chargers still had WR Jones to play. Jones slowly added point by point until finally reaching the 6 points he needed to help his team take the game. In the end, the chargers beat the Smokies 129-125.

The Dancers posted their first win of the season in a not so close game against the Love Supremes. It helped that RB Rice put up his best performance in four weeks. The Dancers were also helped by a bonus 2 for QB Luck's 73 yarder. The Supies have been hurt by their passing game most of the season. And, having to start backup QB Dalton didn't help as he managed only 8 points. The result, a 97-75 win for the Dancers.

In last week's Preview column, we questioned whether the Lancelot Links would be as good as they were without marquee RB Peterson. Well, the Links answered that question with a resounding, "Yes", dominating the Mighty Long Dogs 131-91. Links RB McGahee didn't necessarily make up for the absent Peterson, but did have his best of the season. But, it was WR Jeffery who led the team with 29 points. Even though it wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game, the Dogs left some points on the bench thanks to the injured WR Johnson being in the starting lineup despite being out with a knee injury.

An unfortunate week for the Killer Bunnies. WR Gordon put up a TD and over 80 yards. But, the rest of the receiving squad combined for just 6 total points. Also, RB Sproles was held back after a strong week 4. For the Bad Ass Weazels, QB Vick had his worst game of the season. But, it didn't matter thanks to a decent effort by RB Charles. Also, the Weazels Rams DST did well thanks to an interception return for a TD. It was a pretty easy 103-81 victory for the Bad Ass Weazels

In another close game, the DaBruDoggies managed to outlast the Cheesesteaks 112-108. The Steaks were ahead going into Monday night with both teams having a single player in the game, TE Gonzalez for the Brus and RB Powell for the Steaks. The Cheeses were ahead by 2 points. Gonzalez started early, putting the Brus ahead. Late in the game, Powell starting seeing touches and yards. But, in the end, not enough to retake the lead. This was the Steaks third loss in a row.

Coach Jim made the mistake of starting the injured and inactive RB McFadden, missing out on 12 points from benched RB Spiller. But, it didn't matter. The Dabalalas crushed the Pandemic of Love 125-87. The Pandemic were majorly let down by QB Brady's 5 points. There was a bright spot for the Love. Their top ranked Chiefs DST had another strong performance that included a fumble recovery for a TD. For the Las, their receivers put up an even effort. But, it was QB Romo who put the final nail in the coffin with 5 TD's and over 500 passing yards.

Speaking of the Dabalalas, owner Jim is in our Spotlight.

Spotlight:
Jim, what a win! And, QB Romo threw five touchdown passes and scored 52 points, which puts him at #3 on the BFL's "Most Points Scored By A QB" record. What did you say to get him so fired up?

Thank you for your question. I threatened to bring Jessica Simpson back to Dallas if he didn't start carrying his weight.

Preview:
The Dabalalas hope to capitalize on their momentum going into week 6 as they face the Mighty Long Dogs. The key to that? QB Romo will need to take advantage of his matchup against a weak Redskins pass defense. Another plus for the Las? Their Broncos DST gets to face the woeful Jaguars offense. The Dogs can win as long as RB Foster moves the ball. And, he should have an easy time of it against a low ranked Rams run defense. And, much like Romo, Witten should also do well against the Redskins defense. This game is a hard one to predict.

The "Guru" is predicting big numbers for the Dancers, although we at IADP thinks those numbers might be a little inflated. The Dancers running game has been so so and their receivers have been up and down. We'll have to revisit their projections later. The Killer Bunnies may have personnel issues depending on the status of WR Brown and his hamstring injury. The Bunnies front office may end up having to make a last minute free agent shopping trip since their only other WR is on a bye. We'll keep watch on that also.

The win streak of the DaBruDoggies may be short-lived with their week 6 matchup against the mighty Lancelot Links. The Links will benefit from the return of RB Peterson, but it remains to be seen how well he does against the strong rushing defense of the Panthers. It will also be interesting to see how well QB Bradford, who is in for Ryan who is on a Bye, does against the top ranked passing defense of the Texans. The Brus will be without the talents of TE Gonzalez this week. Expect the Brus to rely on RB Moreno and the competent hands of QB Brees to put up the most numbers.

At 1-4, the Pandemic of Love are in unfamiliar territory. It's hard to understand the Love's record because they have quality players. They have two top ten RB's, a 2nd place K, a topped ranked DST, and a future hall of fame QB. But, somehow they keep getting outscored this season. They'll need all of their stars to fire on all cylinders this week if they want the win. For the Bad Ass Weazels, it looks like there's been a QB change, although that may just be the result of starter Vick's injury status.

This may not be the best week to face the undefeated ic chargers. With QB P. Manning facing the lowly Jaguars and RB Forte facing the low ranked Giants run defense, the chargers may just run all over the Cheesesteaks. Of course, the Steaks have some good opportunities to put up big numbers themselves thanks to favorable matchups for WR Welker, TE Thomas, and their Eagles DST. This should be a good one.

We at IADP love a good "Battle of the Bedroom". And, this week, for the first time ever, coach Lori and her Love Supremes will face cross-house rival coach Nathan and his Half Smokes. Both teams are projected to score about even. The Smokies have lost two in a row. Unfortunate, since they scored high in both of those losses. But, we have no reason to believe they won't score just as high this week. IADP is curious to see whether coach Lori decides to put QB Griffin back in after his Bye or if she decides to see if Dalton can get the job done.

Good luck all! See you next edition!
