Week 8 Highlights:
After some front office work, the Wonder Twin Powers pulled out their third win of the season, beating the Dabalalas 91-66. This was an easy one for the Twins since the Las started the game with no DST and only one RB. Despite that, the Wonders did very well by QB Roethlisberger and his 3 TD's. Also, their receiving squad put up decent numbers, and three out of the four scored TD's.
The streak has ended for the Killer Bunnies. They went up against the mighty Pandemic of Love and lost 105-71. The Pandemic saw good performances by RB McCoy and their 49ers DST. But, QB Brady was definitely the star of the show, having thrown 4TD's. The Bunnies scored well below their 101 point average thanks to mostly single digits by the team. Even QB Rodgers dropped majorly after a monster effort last week.
Another win for the Mighty Long Dogs thanks to a great effort by their Giants DST. 32 points, thanks to 4 Int's, 4 sacks, 2 Fums, and a TD, led to the the Dogs beating the Dancers 101-83. IADP believes that there's one simple reason why the Dancers lost this one. RB Rice was on a Bye, and neither back up, Sproles nor Bush, could fill that gap.
You know you have a great team when you can beat your opponent by 51 points even with an inactive player in your starting lineup. Such was the case for the Lancelot Links, as they crushed the DaBruDoggies 141-90. The Links were on fire. QB Ryan passed for 3 TD's. Their RB's combined for 282 Yds and 2 TD's. TE Gronkowski came close to breaking his own BFL record thanks to his 2 TD's and 146 Rec. Yds. And their DST scored a TD of their own. There isn't much that can be said about the Brus except that their Packers DST managed a TD. And, QB Brees managed to eke out 18 points after being shut down most of the game by the Broncos DEF.
IADP believes that QB Manning's 30 points is the reason why the ic chargers beat the Bad Ass Weazels 104-81. Or, maybe it was Weazels QB Rivers' 6 points. Or, maybe it was the fact that RB Martin out scored both Weazels RB's combined. Either way, it's another check in the W column and a bump in the rankings for the chargers.
A close one between the Love Supremes and the Cheesesteaks. The Supies can probably thank a solid running game for the win, as their RB's combined for 31 points. What put the Supies over the top, though, was the 52 Yds WR Fitzgerald managed on Monday night, giving the Love 5 more points after being tied at 86 going into the game. It was the Steaks' Raiders DST that helped keep this a close game thanks to its 24 points. The rest of the team struggled. But, the Supies managed to break their losing streak, beating the Cheeses 91-86 win.
Speaking of the Love Supremes, owner Lori is in our Spotlight.
Spotlight:Lori, with four losses in a row, things were starting to look down for the Supies. But, you pulled out a win against the Cheeses last week and remain in the middle of the league. What will be your recipe for a late season surge? And, can you use it to serve up a playoff birth?
"Playoffs? Playoffs??? Are you kidding me? Playoffs???" But seriously folks, we need to find a receiver who scores some points and a tight end who plays! Things haven't gone our way this season. We just don't have consistency in our line-up. But if things start to shift and we get a few breaks, who knows? We had a great season last year and then things fell apart in the last few games. With some luck, maybe things will turn around and we will make it to the playoffs. Here's hoping!Preview:
The next stop in the Love Supremes' playoff hunt is a trip to Lala Stadium to face the Dabalalas. The key to a Las win will be a strong passing game by QB Stafford. Stafford had a great game last week against a middle-ranked Seahawks passing DEF. So, an even more favorable matchup this week against a much lower ranked Jaguars DEF should help the Las put up numbers. Of course, the Las will have to overcome a Supies running game.
The Cheesesteaks are trying hard to hang on to their current wildcard spot. Whether they'll stay there this week will depend on the health status of their opponent Wonder Twin Powers. The Twins are dealing with injuries with two players limited in practice and their marquee RB Jones-Drew still too injured to play. Also a factor for the Steaks, QB Vick, despite having a so so year compared to seasons past, has a chance to produce big numbers as he faces the anemic Saints DEF.
Despite a rough season for the Bad Ass Weazels, they face a favorable matchup against the DaBruDoggies. The Brus don't seem to be getting enough efficiency from the running game. And they'll be without one of their best players. K Gostkowski, who happens to be the third best point-producing single player on the Brus squad, is out on a Bye. The Weazels are out of the playoff hunt, but that won't stop coach Dayton from making sure that other teams, like the 5th ranked Brus, work hard to get to the post season.
In what may end up being a playoff preview, the 2nd place Lancelot Links will face the 4th place ic chargers. Both teams have weapons that'll put them over the top. However, there's no denying the fact that the Links are a scoring machine. They continue to hold the top position on the score leaderboard, a huge 134 points more than second place. For the chargers to win, they'll need their team as a whole to put up decent points, instead of just a couple of players scoring huge in a given week.
Our other game of the week, and another possible playoff preview, is the matchup between the Pandemic of Love and the Mighty Long Dogs. These are two strong teams. The Dogs are 2nd on the score leaderboard, have won two in a row, and have only lost twice. The Pandemic are still in first place, have won five in a row, and have made the playoffs every season. However, the Dogs may have a little luck on their side. The Love are without three key players this week. QB Brady, RB Gore, and their 49ers DST are all on Byes. Readers, grab your popcorn, sit back, relax, and enjoy this one.
The Guru seems to have the Dancers heavily favored to beat the Killer Bunnies. In researching this matchup, IADP discovered why. The Dancers have four top 10 ranked players. And, most of the players have very favorable matchups against their NFL opponents. The Bunnies won't be able to just rely on QB Rodgers and WR's Cruz and Morris to put up most of the points. They'll need the rest of the squad to pitch in as well.
Good luck all! See you next edition!
