Week 12 Highlights:
Our second tie of the season, this time between the Dancers and the Wonder Twin Powers. The teams scored 107, but came about it completely differently. The Dancers did well by way of their passing game. QB Romo threw for 400+ yards and 3 TD's, one of which being a 85 yarder to WR Bryant for a bonus 2. The Twins scored well by way of their receivers. The Powers' WR's combined for 366 yards and 3 TD's for a total of 51 points. This game was actually even closer than the score indicates, as the Dancers were down by 6 points going into Monday night with WR Smith still to play. Of course, Smith scored exactly 6, thus tying the game up.
For the third week in a row, the DaBruDoggies scored way above their projections. Interestingly enough, the Brus didn't do great. They had two players who scored nil and a couple that barely put up points. But, it was a late-season replacement that helped them win. The Brus picked up the Rams DST which scored 2 TD's and a bunch Int's. On the other side of the 50, the Killer Bunnies saw solid numbers by their DST and RB Morris. The surprise for the Bunnies was QB Rodgers. Despite a bonus 2 for a 61 yarder to WR Nelson, Rodgers was held in check, scoring only 14. The win keeps the DaBruDoggies in 3rd place and solidifies their place in the playoffs.
An unprecedented second loss in a row for the Lancelot Links. The reasons. Marquee RB Peterson scored only 11 after averaging 23 over the past four weeks. And, QB Freeman scored only 10 after averaging 27 over the past six weeks. Plus, Freeman didn't record a single TD. Their opponent, the Cheesesteaks, fared better thanks to WR's Johnson and Welker. The pair combined for 31 points. The Links loss, along with a Pandemic of Love win, drops the Links to 2nd place.
After a five game losing streak, the Dabalalas eked out a win over the Bad Ass Weazels, 97-95. It looks like Las QB Stafford was the hero of this game. His 2 TD's and 441 passing yards helped give the Las just enough to overtake the Weazels. The Weazels' receivers did a decent job, combining for 37. But, it was enough to keep the their winning streak going.
After dropping two in a row, the Mighty Long Dogs were back in a big way, beating the ic chargers 134-109. The main reason for the win? QB Newton finally looked like he did last season, tossing 300+ passing yards and totalling 4 TD's. Also RB Foster had his best game of the season. The chargers had a fairly even game, although TE Davis wasn't able to contribute. The Long Dogs' win keeps them in 4th place. The chargers loss drops them to 6th.
The Love Supremes and the Pandemic of Love had similar passing games last week. Both QB's scored 40. Both QB's received 4 bonus points, a 68 yarder to WR Robinson and 59 yarder to WR Garcon for Supies' QB Griffin III, and a 83 yarder to RB Vereen and a 56 yarder to WR Edelman for Pandemic QB Brady. But, that's where the similarities end. The Supies saw double digits by only three other positions. The Pandies had five put up double numbers. And, Pandy RB Brown scored a decent 26. The Pandemic win, along with the Lancelot Links loss, puts the Pandemic back into 1st place.
Speaking of the Pandemic of Love, owner Ryan is in our Spotlight.
Spotlight:Ryan, with the win in week 12, you are back in first place, a position at which you've spent most of the season. Of course, a first round Bye comes with that position. Will the Pandemic spend their Bye practicing hard or scoping out the competition?
It's nice to be in first again! The Bye is nice, but take it from someone who has been in this position before, it means absolutely nothing. The playoffs are so very unpredictable. Because of that I'm giving my team a much needed vacation filled with love, lust, debauchery and intrigue. If they come back from the bye/vacation and feel like they can't play, I'm okay with that. It's not all about winning, it's about having fun, and that's just what I plan on giving them. Great season folks, here come the playoffs! Good luck to all.Preview:
The Pandemic of Love will travel to Wonder'rena to take on the Wonder Twin Powers. No matter the outcome, the Love will keep their first round Bye, so this game probably means more to the Twins. Especially with the opportunity to take the final wildcard spot away from the ic chargers (see ic chargers/Killer Bunnies preview for explanation). The Twins are once again without two key players, QB Roethlisberger and RB Jones-Drew, so they have quite the battle ahead of them. The Pandemic should be OK, especially with a favorable matchup against the Dolphins DST.
The Love Supremes have lost three in a row, so a win this week would be a nice ending to their season. But, they'll have to overcome RB Rice and the Dancers. Of course, the Supies have the third best scorer in fantasy football in QB Griffin III. Thus, we at IADP believe that this game will be a close one and will be all about the Dancers running game against the Supies passing game.
The DaBruDoggies definitely have more at stake in their matchup against the Mighty Long Dogs. A Brus win, along with a Lancelot Links loss, would make the Brus the second seed and give them a first round Bye. Of course, they'll have to rely on QB Brees to put up one of his best performances of the season. Also, the Brus WR's will need to step up like they did two weeks ago against the Cheesesteaks. All but two players on the Mighty Long Dogs squad are top ten in their respective positions, so they have a whole lot of weapons. Barring anything unusual, this should be an easy one for the Mighties.
The game between the Lancelot Links and the Dabalalas isn't a must win for the Links, yet it is. They secured a spot in the playoffs long ago, but they must win if they want to retain their first round Bye, as the DaBruDoggies are right on their tails. The Links will need to watch out for the Las running squad. Both RB's Spiller and Richardson face favorable matchups in the low ranked run defenses of the Jaguars and the Raiders. The key to a Links win will be QB Ryan taking advantage of the lowly Saints pass defense.
The Bad Ass Weazels are not in a position to knock the Cheesesteaks out of the playoff picture. No matter what, the Steaks will enter the playoffs as the 4th, 5th, or 6th seed. So, for the Weazels, this game will probably be all about evaluating players for possible franchise designation next season. It looks like the Guru isn't expecting much from the Weazels offense, so we have a feeling the Steaks will end the season 8-5.
Another team in a must win situation is the ic chargers. At 5-6-1, the Wonder Twin Powers are right on the chargers tails. A chargers loss would put them at 6-7. A Twins win would put them at 6-6-1. That one less loss would move the Twins into the final wildcard spot. So, the chargers will need their entire squad to perform on all cylinders. Their opponent, the Killer Bunnies, won't go quietly. And, QB Rodgers is due for a big game.
Good luck all! See you next edition!
