Week 7

We've reached the halfway point. There are a bunch of teams standing at the playoff gate. But, only six will get that golden ticket for a dip in the chocolate river that is the BFL playoffs. Stay tuned as the playoff picture starts to come into view in the coming weeks.

Week 6 Highlights:
The Dancers managed to put the breaks on the ic chargers, ending their three game winning streak and beating them 101-90. After averaging 114 points in the first five weeks, the chargers had a rough week in comparison. QB Manning was the only player on the squad to score any TD's, passing for 3. The Dancers fared better thanks to WR Jackson's and marquee RB Rice's 4 combined TD's.

It was a below average game for the Pandemic of Love. But, it doesn't matter. They beat the DaBruDoggies 97-87. The Love won this one thanks to a solid performance by QB Brady. Also, the Love's receiving squad combined for 316 Yds and a couple of TD's. Most surprising on the Pandemic's side is the uncharacteristic 11 points by their 49ers DST. There were a bunch of single digits on the Bru's side, but backup QB Ponder, K Gostkowski, and the Packers DST kept their loss from being majorly lopsided. IADP reports that Bru's coach Antonio blames the loss on RB Mendenhall's 3rd Qtr. injury.

After a minor setback last week, the Lancelot Links were back to their winning ways, defeating the Love Supremes 114-95. The Supies benefited from a monster performance by QB Griffin III, who not only passed well, but out-rushed every RB in the NFL except one. But, as a whole, the Supies couldn't stand up to the Links, especially the Links' receivers who combined for 5 TD's. A good thing, since their QB Ryan threw 3 Int's, and their Cowboys DST allowed 31 points.

The Bad Ass Weazels just can't seem to get a break. They scored their lowest points of the season, losing to the Wonder Twin Powers 87-58. Except for their DST, the Weazels saw single digits from their entire team. It didn't help that QB Rivers threw 4 Int's and fumbled twice. And, to top it off, they played a Twins team that started the game with two open positions. The Wonders did as well as they did thanks to their WR's, especially Bryant's 2 TD's. But, of course their score would have been higher if not for a couple of backups that should have started the game.

After starting out 0-4, the Killer Bunnies scored their second win in a row, beating the Cheesesteaks 114-98. Steaks QB Vick had his best game of the season thanks to his 2 TD's, one of which being a 70 yarder for a bonus 2 points. Also, their Falcons DST did well with a TD, 2 Fum. recoveries, and an Int. The key to the Bunnies' win? Two words: Aaron Rodgers. The QB tossed a monster 6 TD's and 300+ Yds. Rodgers' 50 points puts him in 3rd place for Most Points Scored By A QB in the BFL. A bit of trivia, the Killer Bunnies also hold the 2nd place position for QB Tom Brady's 51 points scored back in Oct. of '09.

A great game over at Lala Stadium between the Mighty Long Dogs and the Dabalalas! Both teams saw solid performances throughout their squad. Standouts include the Dogs' RB's who combined for 49. Also, the Las' receivers combined for 46 and their DST impressed with 5 sacks, 2 Int's, and a safety. The downfall for the Dogs was definitely QB Smith, who threw 3 Int's and no TD's. The game was close going into Monday night with the Dogs ahead by 1 and both teams having one player yet to play. Thanks to WR Decker's 15 points, the Dabalalas won this one 124-115.

Speaking of the Dabalalas, their owner Jim is in our Spotlight.

Spotlight:

Jim, after losing three in a row, you outscored every team in the league in week 6. What did you say to get the Dabalalas so fired up against the Mighty Long Dogs?

Thank you for asking the question, the answer is really quite simple, I believe that a team performs at its’ utmost when it is well rested. Therefore I have given most of my team many days off without practicing or even showing up to the games. Many of them had family matters to deal with such as attending their children’s school play, long bike rides with their wives, or just a good lazy day of sleeping in. Some of them even enjoy just lounging around watching the NFL games on TV. This past week was actually the first week that the entire team made it to our game. I have found that it does increase our chances of winning when the majority of the team arrives to the stadium prior to kickoff.

As for us being “fired up” against the Might Long Dogs? I have stated many times in private and in public that I have no ill feelings toward the Might Long Dogs or their owner. I am tired of the media trying to create a grudge between myself and their owner, Bud. I have nothing but complete respect and admiration for Mr. Hearne. Yes, it is true that when we both attended pre-school at Kountry Kiddie Skoolhouse it was well documented that Bud would tease me for many of my shortcomings. And yes, I will admit that Bud, in the fifth grade, threw me to the blacktop during a “friendly” game of foursquare and urinated on the back of my head. And I guess some people could view it as cruel when in high school Bud “pants” me during baccalaureate as I began singing the National Anthem because he know that I had to finish the song before I could pull them back up (I thank him for teaching me that going commando isn’t always the best thing to do at large gatherings). But those we just harmless pranks. I almost forgot about the time he reported me to NIS as an “undocumented illegal alien”from Guatemala. It took me nine months to get back into the US but I did learn good places to hide things during a cavity search. I even forgave him for the time when he planted six explosive devices in my suitcase and in my carry-on prior to my going through the TSA security check at O’Hare in Chicago. I wasn’t mad or even upset because I made many new friends at Dixon Psychiatric Maximum Security Prison during my two year stay. Bud’s got a great sense of humor.

So did the Dablalas have any particular reason for being “fired up” to play the Mighty Dong Logs? Nahhh, it’s just plain old fun football.

Preview:
The Dabalalas are headed to Bunny Stadium to face the recently hot Killer Bunnies. It looks like the Bunnies may have issues with their ground game. The Guru doesn't seem to think that RB's Woodhead or Ingram will produce much. And, Morris is a capable RB, but runs the risk of being overshadowed by his QB Griffin III. The Las seem to be better off on the ground. The question is whether their receiving game can get the job done.

The usually active Mighty Long Dogs front office was pretty quite this week, forgoing their usually weekly shopping trip at the Free Agent Market. So, it looks like the Dogs are confident in their lineup against the Cheesesteaks. They should be with the likes of top ranked RB Foster. QB Newton may have a little trouble as he faces the top ranked passing DEF of the Cowboys. Thus, he may end up being the Dogs' third RB. The Steaks will be relying on their WR's to put up decent numbers, with favorable matchups against the Saints DEF and the Ray Lewis-less Raven's DEF.

The ic chargers were knocked out of 1st place last week and are looking to fight their way back to the top. To do that, they'll first need to step over the Pandemic of Love. The Pandemic have a lot to overcome on the ground. RB Gore is facing the stingy Seahawks run DEF. And, RB Blount isn't exactly a marquee RB, although he has seen the end zone in his last two games. The chargers will need to work on their passing game to win this one. QB Dalton will be throwing against a strong Steelers DEF. For owner Mike, this will be one of those conflicted games that all BFL owners hate. His QB is playing against his DST. Who does one root for?

Things don't get much easier for the Bad Ass Weazels this week. They are facing a few Bye Week Shuffle issues, including both of their QB's being on a Bye. And, they'll face the Love Supremes, who've lost three in row and are hungry for a win. We at IADP think that coach Dayton may end up taking a vacation this week and letting the chips fall where they may. . . Just a hunch.

A tough matchup for the Wonder Twin Powers in their game against the 2nd place Lancelot Links. Much like the Weazels, the Twins are also dealing with Bye week issues. As of this posting, their Eagles DST is out and has no backup on the bench. The Links should continue their winning ways as long as RB Peterson stays healthy. And, with three receivers who have top QB's throwing to them, Rodgers to Nelson, Brees to Colston, and Brady to Gronkowski, this should be an easy one for the Lances.

The Dancers should see some strong numbers from their RB's with marquee RB Rice and a favorable matchup for Jones. They'll face the DaBruDoggies and the return of QB Brees, who will face the lowly pass DEF of the Buccaneers. With all players healthy and no Bye week issues, this game is winnable for the Dancers. The Brus have a lot of injuries, but as long as everyone plays, and as long as RB McFadden takes advantage of his favorable matchup against the Jaguars DEF, this game is winnable for the Brus. This one may just come down to a coin toss.

Good luck all! See you next edition!
