Week 14: Playoffs

Here we are! Round 1 of the playoffs! Round 1 of the series of battles to determine whose name will be added to the wall of champions here on In And Around The Dog Pound! Round 1 of the six teams who will be watching the BFL playoffs from the stadium parking lot!

Week 13 Highlights:
An unfortunate season ending for the DaBruDoggies who lost to the Mighty Long Dogs 117-103, their 6th loss in a row. The two bright spots for the Brus were QB Brees' impressive 3 TDs and bonus 2 points and WR Garcon's 2 TDs and 150 rec yds. Equally impressive performances on the Dogs side of the field, including QB Newton's record breaking 3 rushing TDs. But, alas, both coach Antonio and coach Bud will be watching the playoffs from the sofa.

Scoring their 2nd highest point total this season, the Bad Ass Weazels had a great game, taking out the Cheesesteaks 125-96. The win was definitely all about the Weazels running game featuring RB Johnson, who had his best game this season after underperforming most of the year. Also, their DEF did well thanks to a return TD. The Steaks loss was probably the result of their WR's combined 8 points. Also, it's hard to win when your QB throws 4 Ints. Either way, coach Kurt will be joining Antonio and Bud on the sofa.

The Killer Bunnies continued their reign at the top of the Saint Bernard Division after defeating the ic chargers 119-93. As has been the case all season, the Killer Bunnies won on the back of QB Rodgers, although the Bunnies also did well by RB Helu and their Jets DEF. There were two bright spots amongst the chargers starters. WR Hicks scored a couple of TDs and QB Rivers had his second best game of the season. None the less, coach Mike will be joining Antonio, Bud, and Kurt on the sofa.

For the third week in a row, the Love Supremes put up an uncharacteristically low score, losing to the Dancers 116-75. The Dancers decided to finish out their season on a high note. And, they have their running game to thank. Rice and Lynch combined for 55. Once again, QB Manning managed to keep the Supies from recording a much bigger deficit. Despite the win, coach Jill will be joining Antonio, Bud, Kurt, and Mike on the sofa.

The Pandemic of Love weren't able to outscore the Killer Bunnies, but they were able to move into the #2 spot thanks to a combination of their easy 119-26 win over the Easy Wins and a loss by the Love Supremes. The top scorer for the Pandemic was their 49ers DEF which held their opponent to 0 points and recorded a handful of sacks. The Easy Wins will be serving Antonio, Bud, Kurt, Mike, and Jill on the sofa.

The Lancelot Links were on fire last week, outscoring the Dabalalas 147-84. The Las didn't have much of a chance against the Links' receiving core which put up an impressive 78 total points. Also, RB Greene crushed with 3 TDs. The Las did well on the ground with their RBs combining for 36 points.

Wildcard Week Preview:
Round 1 of the playoffs pits the 4th place Lancelot Links against the wildcard Dabalalas and the 3rd place Love Supremes against the wildcard Bad Ass Weazels. It also means a week off for the 1st place Killer Bunnies and 2nd place Pandemic of Love.

The Links are coming off of their best game of the season. The Las are coming off of one the their least productive. Their playoff matchup is projected to be a fairly even one, so this game may just come down to who's hungrier. After all, the Las finished in last place last season, so you know they would love to make up for not making the playoffs. The Links lost in the first round of the playoffs last season, so you know they would love to prove that they can go the long haul. Expect the Las to score mostly on the ground. Expect the Links to see most of their production by air.

The Supremes may need a good pep talk and a few extra practices if they want to make it to the second round of the playoffs after scoring below average in their last three games. Also, the Supies may have a few injury issues with a few players whose statuses are up in the air as of this posting. The Weazels are having their best season since their debut in year two of the BFL. They have a good chance of making it to round 2, especially if RB Johnson has another monster game like last weeks. As long as the Supies are all healthy, this looks to be a tight one.

Good luck playoff teams! See you next edition!
