Week 5 Highlights:
What a week for the Bad Ass Weazels. After barreling through the league for three weeks, the Weazels scored their lowest point total of the season and lost to the Killer Bunnies 97-68. It was a normal week for the Bunnies with QB Rodgers carrying the team. And, recent FA pickup WR Cruz put up an impressive 161 Rec Yds. Both teams saw very little production from their running games.
The Cheesesteaks finally did it! They finally won their first game of the season, taking out the Dancers 120-109. The Steaks saw double digits from the majority of the team. And, despite throwing 4 Int's, QB Vick still managed to eke out 25 points. On the other side of the ball, Dancers QB Ryan wasn't so fortunate. Even though he threw half the Int's that Vick did, Ryan was less productive and only put up 8 points. Also, Dancers RB Bush saw no points at all due to the Texans strong run defense.
The Pandemic of Love Wins Ag. . . Whoa! Oops! I guess we can delete that phrase now since they were taken down by the Dabalalas 124-103. The Las put up their second highest point total of the season. This game was probably won/lost by the QBs. Las' Schaub threw for an impressive 416 Yds and scored a decent 26 points. Pandemic's Brady was decent, but didn't put up anywhere near his normal numbers. Also, the Pandemic as a whole didn't put up the huge numbers that they normally do.
After a bump in confidence for the ic chargers last week, the rush has ended as they lost to the Love Supremes 99-78. The chargers woes may be due to inconsistancy in their passing game. QB Freeman scored a lowly 3 points this week. Despite two players that scored no points, the Supremes benefited from double digits from most of the rest of the squad, as well as a bonus for QB Manning's 68 Yd TD pass to WR Cruz.
The DaBruDoggies had the pleasure of playing the final lineup of the now defunct Romosexual Tendencies and won 106-74. The big story of this game would definitely be that the Texans DEF managed to keep marquee RB McFadden in check, resulting in his lowest point total of the season. Also of note, WR Garcon seems to finally be in sync with Colts back QB Painter. The combination of the two resulted in 125 Rec Yds and 2 TDs.
Another unfortunate week for the Mighty Long Dogs who lost their third game in a row, this time to the Lancelot Links 145-88. The Links dominated on offense, including a 5 TD game by QB Roethlisberger and 3 TD game by RB Peterson. Except for QB Newton putting up another strong game, RB Foster putting up solid yardage, and WR Heyward-Bey scoring a TD, the rest of the team seemed to just tag along for the ride.
Speaking of the Mighty Long Dogs, owner Bud is in our spotlight.
Spotlight:Bud, three losses in a row? The Mighty Long Dogs finished in the top quarter of the league in their rookie season last year. Was last year a fluke? Can the Dogs turn it around? Do you have a strategy for digging out this hole?
We're not dumb dogs! We know what the other teams have been thinking, "Got the Long Dogs this week? How about a vacation? Maybe a cruise?" I will say there have been some real dog days to end of summer at the Beneful Brand Stadium Complex. But how dare you even insinuate that our 2011 Saint Bernard League Championship was a fluke! (Hey, I think you left some stuff here in the basement from last year, Bear.) Our year simply comes down to a weak draft and a monsoon of injuries that have plagued us week after week. "Hey, let's start the season off with both our 2011 Keepers on the sidelines." Yeah, thanks for screwing up that reserve player vote, Commish. That's been a big help. We're still waiting for the full investigation into that fiasco. We're close to cutting our marquee player just to salvage the season. (Our legal team will be in touch.) Did we mention the four players on IA in week 3. Strep throat?!? Really!?! That's okay! Long Dogs hang tough!! We're not gonna let this little bout of dumb luck sprain our tails!!! We'll bounce back, we have goals, we have little doggy dreams and right now our dreams are full of crushing Bunnies in week 11. Sigfid, Pookie!!Preview:
No preview this week. The combination of taking over and creating the Easy Wins and a busy weekend has kept me from being able to put in the time. Plus, it's hard to project outcomes this week knowing that there will be a whole lot of personel changes come Sunday morning when waivers clear.
Good luck all! See you next edition.
