Week 14: Playoffs

The time has come! Playoffs! The part of the season when the best of the best try to prove who is best of the best of the best. This season's best include The Pandemic of Love, The Mighty Long Dogs, The Lancelot Links, the Killer Bunnies, the Cheesesteaks, and The Dancers. An interesting factoid for you. Out of the six 2010 playoff teams, five of them are there for the first time ever. The Pandemic of Love is our only playoff vet.

Note To Owners:
In case you haven't noticed, you are now able to choose your two franchise players to keep for next season. You don't necessarily have to do it now. You have until the end of the season to choose. And, even then, your choice isn't locked in. You will be given the opportunity to edit your choices next season before our draft.

You can find the link on our league page right above the STANDINGS/SCHEDULE/PLAYOFFS area midway down the page. If you aren't sure where that is, I've posted a screen capture below that you can click on for reference.

Week 13 Highlights:
Eventhough the ic chargers were already out of the playoffs, they managed to put a kink in the armor of the Killer Bunnies by beating them 93-83, knocking them out of 2nd place and taking away their first round bye in the playoffs. It wasn't the "Killers" worst game, but it was a below average performance for them, with most of their points coming from QB Rodgers. The "chargers" put up a more balanced game in their season ender.

The Dancers didn't have their best game. They got single digits from most of the team, including -2 from RB Sproles. On the other hand, In It to Win It decided to end the season with style and a well balanced game resulting in a 101-73 win. A difference in The Dancers lineup would have made a difference in the outcome of the game, but it didn't matter much since The Dancers had already made it into the playoffs.

Not only did the Cheesesteaks end the regular season with a 106-86 win over the Bad Ass Weazels, but that win was their fourth in a row. The "Steaks" benefited from strong passing and defensive efforts compared to the "Weazels'" lack of a passing effort. The "Cheeses" win, along with the Romosexual Tendencies loss, solidifies their position in the playoffs.

The Mighty Long Dogs outscored the DaBruDoggies 94-76. The "Brus" had another lackluster week with over half the team scoring 3 points or less. "The Dogs" saw fairly little production from their receiving corp, but their strong running game compensated by putting up 41 total points compared to the receiving corp's 16. This third win in a row, along with the Killer Bunnies loss, moves The Mighty Long Dogs into 2nd place, earning them a first round bye in the playoffs.

Despite scoring their lowest point total so far this season, The Pandemic of Love continued their dominance as they took out the Romosexual Tendencies 70-61. This matchup was much like one of those NFL games where no one seems to score and the outcome ends up being a bunch of field goals. "The Love" had six players who scored in single digits no higher than 7 points. The "Romos" had seven players in single digits, two of which scored 0. Despite the low score, "The Pandemic" can rest and take advantage of a bye week to size up their competition for week 2 of the playoffs.

For a while, it was getting a little scary for The Lancelot Links, having lost 3 games in a row and dropping from 1st to 4th place. But, they managed to eke out a 99-85 win over the Dabalalas and end the regular season in 3rd place. The "Las" can thank their DST and WR Jennings for helping put up as many points as they did since much of the rest of the team did so so. "The Links" got almost nothing from QB Manning, but did well by RB Peterson who was back to form after a few below average weeks.

Spotlight:
IADP traveled to the headquarters of the six teams that didn't quite make it to the playoffs this season. Unfortunately, there were only two owners who were willing to sit down with us for a final interview.

This should've been a good year for the DaBruDoggies. I mean, we have the Superbowl winning QB on our squad. We would've done well if not for all the injuries. We could've. . . I'll let my team spokesman take it from here.

i.c. chargers have fired the entire personnel staff. Owner Mike Hackley is on the look out for a teenager who is proficient in Madden to run his team...

Quarterfinal Playoff Preview:
Our first matchup pits the 4th place Killer Bunnies (9-4) against the 5th place Cheesesteaks (7-6). Both teams deserve to be in the playoffs, but used totally different routes to get there. The "Killers" stayed in the upper quarter of the league the whole season. The "Steaks" had it rough early, starting the season 1-4. But, with the help of QB Michael Vick, went on a late season surge, ending the regular season on a 4 game win streak. As of this posting, Madden has the "Cheeses" coming out ahead. But, it also looks like, with a little front office work, the "Bunnies" can make the Cheesesteaks work a little harder.

Our second matchup is between the 3rd place The Lancelot Links (9-4) and 6th place The Dancers (7-6). Both teams are having their best seasons ever in the BFL. The Dancers have had a pretty steady season, but really turned on the heat in week 7 when they started consistently scoring in the 100's. "The Links" have been strong the whole season, never having scored any less than 95 points. The Dancers are currently heavily favored to take this one. Hopefully, "The Links" marquee players like QB Manning, RB Peterson, WR White, and TE Gates will step up and make this one closer than what Madden is predicting.

Good luck playoff teams! See you next edition!

I was sure that I had lost going into Monday night! Yes, that was a nail biter. Luck was with me and glad I wasn't playing DaBruDoggies this time.
