Week 13

It's the final game of the regular season. Does anyone know what that means? . . Anyone? . . Anyone? . . Anyone? . . That means the playoffs are right around the corner. Most of the playoff position are set. But, there are a couple of teams that are standing on the fence. Fall on one side and you're in. Fall on the other side and your season is over. It doesn't get any better than this folks!

Week 12 Highlights:
The Dabalalas have done it again. They put another W on their record, this time by beating the Bad Ass Weazels 87-81. This was a must win for the "Weazels" if they wanted any chance at all of getting into the playoffs. But, they couldn't get the job done. This wasn't the "Las" best game, but they did get a lot of help from their DST and WR's.

The Dancers had a great week, having beat the Romosexual Tendencies 130-72. This was The Dancers best performance yet with all but two players scoring in double digits, two of which scoring in the 30's. Also, WR Dwayne Bowe's 35 points broke the BFL WR record. The "Sexies" saw fair numbers by much of their team, including marquee QB Rivers who scored in the single digits for the first time this season. This win solidifies The Dancers playoff birth.

The Mighty Long Dogs can thank their running game for helping them win against the ic chargers, since the rest of the team scored very little. The ic chargers can thank benched RB Goodson for helping them lose the game, since he outscored his starting counterpart by 18 points, points that would have made a big difference in their 91-83 loss to "The Dogs".

It was a sad, but not surprising, day over at the DaBruDoggies front office after having suffered their worst game this season. The Killer Bunnies were fortunate in that they had four players with very little production, but the rest of the team more than made up for it with powerful passing, running, and defensive and special teams performances. The "Doggies" saw little production from their team with most scoring in the single digits. So, it's no surprise that they lost 128-67.

The Pandemic of Love continues their dominance in the BFL by taking out In It to Win It 138-84. "The Love" QB Brady had another monster game which included a bonus for his 79 yard TD pass. Also helpful was RB Peyton Hillis' 194 total yards and 3 TD's, resulting in 37 points, a BFL record tying performance. The "Wins" suffered their fifth loss in a row and saw fair production from most of the team.

Despite having a great season, The Lancelot Links lost their third game in a row. Unfortunate for them, but very beneficial for their opponent, the Cheesesteaks. The "Steaks'" 125-98 win over their division rival put them into the last wildcard spot. "Cheeses" QB Vick once again helped to put up a lopsided victory.

Speaking of The Lancelot Links, their owner Joey is in our spotlight.

Spotlight:
Joey, despite having lost your last three games, you had already solidified your playoff status. In the first round of the playoffs, you'll likely face either the Cheesesteaks (a team on a late season surge), The Dancers (a team that has finally come into their own), or The Mighty Long Dogs (the rookie team that has taken the league by storm). Is there a strategy for getting back to your winnings ways, especially against such strong opponents?

Since the stakes are higher... I have decided to flip a quarter this week, and retire the nickel. :) Honestly, any successes or failures this year have been bourne of instinct and not on official reports- which have consistently proved to be fallible. Like any coach in the league (who can't babysit a team all weekend) you make a guess, roll the dice, flip a coin, and cross your fingers. My successes are due to good fortune, and my failures are due to another's good fortune. :)

Well that, and fucking injuries and irresponsible injury reporting in the NFL- but I digress...

I had tried to adjust line-ups before this weekend, but since my internet connection is shoddy in North Korea (where I am participating as part of a UN nuclear facility inspection team) I wasn't able to adjust players. Not to worry- I have informed my superiors that my Bru Dog League is more important- and my intern will fill in on site work while I manage my team! :)

Preview:
The matchup between the Cheesesteaks and the Bad Ass Weazels is a must win for the "Steaks" if they want to keep their wildcard spot. With the Romosexual Tendencies right on their tails, a "Steaks" loss, along with a "Romos" win, would change the teams' playoff statuses. Madden predicts this to be a close one, so the "Cheeses" have their work cut out for them.

The DaBruDoggies will end their season in style by taking on the elite rookie The Mighty Long Dogs. With the fate of both teams already set ("The Dogs" are in, the "Doggies" are out) this game is mostly a chance for "The Mighty" to practice for their post season journey and the "Brus" to evaluate franchise player possibilities. Despite the game meaning very little, the "Brus" are predicted to win this one.

The game between the Romosexual Tendencies and The Pandemic of Love is an important one for the "Romos". The game doesn't change their status vs "The Love", but it does possibly affect whether they'll  play next week or not. The "Sexies" must win and hope for a Cheeseteaks loss in order to nudge their way into the playoffs. This will be quite the task for the "Romos" since they are going up against the best team in the BFL.

The ic chargers have the unenviable task of facing the powerhouse Killer Bunnies. A "Killers" win would allow them the luxury of a first round bye in the playoffs. The "chargers'" season is done, but a win would be nice after losing their last two. But, with the "Bunnies" at 9-3 and having scored 75% of their games above 100 points, the "chargers" will have to work hard to get the job done.

As was mentioned in the Spotlight, The Lancelot Links are already in the playoffs despite their recent losing skid. This week, "The Links" face the Dabalalas in their season ending game. The winner of this game may just be determined by the health of "The Lances", who have three players whose statuses are up in the air. The "Las" have had a rough season, so a 2 game win streak would be a nice ending for them. It looks like Madden is predicting that as long as everyone remains healthy, this will be a pretty even matchup.

In It to Win It have now lost 5 in a row. And, with a record of 3-9, they are out of the playoffs. On the other side of the ball The Dancers are in, barring the combination of the Romosexual Tendencies winning and outscoring The Dancers by more than 100 points. It looks like the matchup is fairly even, but IADP expects The Dancers to end the regular season on a winning note.

Good luck all! See you next edition!
