Week 12 Highlights:
After a 26 point effort by the i c chargers' Green Bay DST on Thanksgiving, The Bad-Ass Bug didn't have much of a chance in their 120-61 loss. The "Bugs" reserve squad actually scored five more points than their starting counterparts. But, even if they had maximized their roster, the "Bug" wouldn't have outscored the "chargers" who had solid performances by all but two of their starters. The "chargers" have now joined the ranks of the "4 game win streak club."
For the second time this season, The Pan Troglodytes' reserve squad outscored their starters. But, what most likely led to the "Trogs" 73-68 loss to the Dabalalas was the loss of QB Matt Ryan who left the game due to a "turf toe" injury. The "Las" scored their second lowest points this season, but they won. And, that win keeps them tied with the i c chargers for first place in the West Division.
For the second week in a row, Running Wild lost with an uncharacteristically low score, this time losing to The Dancers 79-72. After an impressive 20 points by WR Donald Driver early in the week, the "Wild" looked to have the game locked. But, with low points by five of their starters, including only 5 points from BFL record holder QB Tom Brady, it wasn't enough to beat The Dancers, who are now on a 4 game win streak. The "Wild's" loss has knocked them out of first place in the East Division after having held the position for several weeks.
cheesesteaks owner Kurt officially threw in the towel Wednesday. And, last week, IADP pointed out that the cheesesteaks' season was pretty much done and that they would be "finishing out the season playing for pride." Well, the cheesesteaks can hold their heads high as they stomped all over The Good Kind of Limping Scrod 116-88. The "Scrod" had an unfortunate week with only three starters scoring double digits. And, the loss puts them back into a tie with the St. Louis Pandemic of Love for first place in the Central Division.
For the second week in a row, the previously-low-scoring DaBruDoggies scored in the 120's, this time resulting in a 121-85 win over the Average Joes. The "Joes" were ahead 26 points up until Monday night, when "Doggies" WR Marcus Colston put up over 100 ReYds and a TD and QB Drew Brees put up a near perfect performance with 371 PaYds and 5 TD's. The win, along with Running Wild's loss, moves the DaBruDoggies into sole first place in the East Division.
After two bad weeks in a row, the St. Louis Pandemic of Love came back with a vengeance with a 111-22 win. Now, that win was against the Easy Wins, but the win put the "Love" back into a two-way tie for first place in the Central Division and their 111 points put them back into first place on the leader board. Speaking of the St. Louis Pandemic of Love, their owner, Ryan, is in our spotlight this week.
Spotlight:
Ryan, you've held the perpetual wildcard spot for several weeks and gained it right back after losing it last week. Is it possible for a team to win the championship twice, in a league that has only existed for three seasons, and is the "Love" the team to do it?
Well, I guess, all I can say is, I hope so. It's tougher this year than in years past, I mean just last week I Added/Dropped 5 players. I didn't really draft well this year, so it's been a case of playing the waiver wire. Some weeks are better than others, and 99% of the time it's all luck. But I do believe, even at this point, mathematically, the wildcard is any team's to win, I just might be trying harder than others.Previews:
The Dabalalas have to win their next two and put up some major points if they want a playoff spot. The first step in that plan is taking down The Bad-Ass Bug. The "Bug" are pretty much out of the playoff hunt, but are in a position to determine who does represent their division. As of this posting, the "Las" are projected to take this one.
After an impressive score last week, the cheesesteaks look to get revenge against the St. Louis Pandemic of Love, who beat them earlier in the season 119-74. The "Love" are in quite a position in that they are tied for first place in the Central Division with The Good Kind of Limping Scrod in both their overall and division records. But, the "Love" are also in 1st place on the leader board, which gives them two opportunities for a playoff spot.
In another key matchup, the DaBruDoggies take on their division rival Running Wild. Both teams have been duking it out for first place for the past few weeks with the "Doggies" finally breaking ahead last week. But, Running Wild are due for a break-out game after having lost their last two with fairly low scores. It looks like the "Wild" are favored to win this one.
The Pan Troglodytes aren't mathematically out of the playoffs, but they will have to work hard to get there. Their best chance is with a stellar performance similar to the one they put up in week 6, where they set the BFL record for Most Points by a Team with 150 points. Standing in their way, and trying to keep their current playoff spot, are the i c chargers. The "chargers" have won their last four with no less than 91 points, so the "Trogs" have their work cut out for them. This game looks to be a close one.
Much like The Pan Troglodytes, the Average Joes won't be able to get into the playoffs with their win/loss record. But, being #2 on the leader board puts them in a position to make a run at the wildcard spot. To do that, they need to put enough points to knock the St. Louis Pandemic of Love out of 1st place as well stay ahead of the "Trogs" who are only 5 points behind them. The problem is that the "Joes" are facing The Dancers, who have made a late season surge, including an impressive 139 points two weeks ago. The Dancers aren't completely out of the playoff picture, but they'll have to be pushed in with "Wild" and "Doggies" losses.
The Good Kind of Limping Scrod are at the top of the Central Division alongside the St. Louis Pandemic of Love. But, to get into the playoffs, the "Scrod" has to win their next two and hope that the "Love" loses at least one. That task shouldn't be a problem this week since they play the Easy Wins. Know that the "Scrod" will definitely be rooting for the cheesesteaks to win.
Good luck all! See you next edition!

Ahem...while it may or may not be true that the Scrod are rooting for the cheesesteaks to win, the Scrod hereby object to the use of the word "definitely" in this week's IADP Previews. The Scrod wish to maintain the innate right to speak for themselves and not have such concrete words spoken for them.
The Scrod are lovers, not fighters. Except when it comes to beating the bejesus out of the St. Louis Pandemic of Love. Therefore, be it known to one and all from the Scrod's official Public Relations representative:
GO GET 'EM, cheesesteaks!
I would like to wish everyone a Good Luck, this week!!! I feel as if my luck is about to run out. I hope to see you all here next year!
Go Cheesesteaks!!!
Aw, come on, Ryan! Where did your smack-talk go? It's no fun to post faux-rude things aimed right at your sack if you're just gonna go all hippie on me and wish everyone a good week!
Merry Christmas cheer is what has happened!!! (I know I'm going to the playoffs, but didn't want to brag too hard) ;-) LOL, no but truly folks...Happy Christmas!!!
After my recent string of bad luck outside of the fantasy arena, a win would be nice. A playoff spot would be even better.
Here's the thing. We are playing for pride;however, being 40 pts away from the wildcard... ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. It would be the shock of the year and possibly the worst record to ever make it to the playoffs, but it AIN'T OVER till the fat lady eats a cheesesteak. With that big can of whoop ass last week, this team is NOT DEAD! The ref gave back the towel.
