Week 5

The BFL! The best fantasy football league in the world. How many fantasy leagues have their own sports page? huh? Huh?! HUH?!

Week 4 Highlights:
The cheesesteaks continued their new winning ways with a tight 96-89 win over The Bad-Ass Bug. Unfortunately for "The Bug", the Guru was somewhat off on the DST numbers. Coach Dayton's reserve DST, the Miami Dolphins, scored an impressive 28 points, which would have given "The Bug" the win.

St. Louis Pandemic of Love coach Ryan made the last minute decision not to start RB Pierre Thomas. That decision cost him the game in a 86-71 loss to the Dabalalas who started two players that didn't even play. Unfortunately for the "Love", Thomas scored 18 points, which would have totally changed the outcome of the game.

Thanks to a stellar performance by the 49ers defense, the DaBruDoggies had no trouble taking down The Pan Troglodytes 110-73. The "Doggies'" DST scored a BFL record tying 43 points. "The Trogs'" New Orleans DST scored an impressive 34 points. Unfortunately, Coach Joey started the usually strong NY Jets DST instead, who only scored 4.

It was a bad week for Running Wild. The "Wild" set the new BFL record for Least Points Scored By A Team in their 87-57 loss to the i c chargers. It didn't help that Running Wild QB Mark Sanchez ended up with 3 interceptions, a fumble, and only 138 passing yards resulting in -1 point. The one bright spot? The "Wild's" loss wasn't against the Easy Wins who would have beat Running Wild by 2 points.

The Average Joes, of course, beat the Easy Wins 75-59. The story here is that this game was actually closer than it should have been thanks to an impressive effort by the Easy Wins' Houston DST who scored a whopping 30 points and Minnesota WR Sidney Rice who scored 13.

Not since Season 1 of the BFL has a rookie owner made it to week 4 without a loss, but The Good Kind of Limping Scrod has done it after beating The Dancers 109-97. The Dancers actually had a solid performance and scored the third most points this week. But, it wasn't enough to take down the mighty "Scrod."

State Of The League:
We are now a quarter of the way into the BFL season. With one undefeated team, one 3-1 team, and eight teams at .500, the season is still up in the air. We've seen three teams totally turn around from an 0-2 start to a two game winning streak, and three teams go from a 2-0 start to a two game losing streak. It all boils down to one thing. The unpredictability factor is high in the ol' BFL.

Now that we've entered Bye season, the games should become even more interesting. Sometimes the Bye Week Shuffle can be tricky. Do I have a viable substitute on reserve? Should I dip into the free agent market? Should I drop a player because of too many Byes? All questions that can determine a win or a loss, and could affect a playoff spot.

By the way, for those keeping track, if the playoffs happened right now, it would be The Good Kind of Limping Scrod vs. St. Louis Pandemic of Love and i c chargers vs. DaBruDoggies.

Previews:
The cheesesteaks have done a complete turnaround. Running Wild is looking to do the same. The "Wild" would love to turn their two game losing streak into a win against the "cheeses". Quite the task, considering that the cheesesteaks are ranked #1 in passing, receiving, and defense. Running Wild is dealing with a WR bye, but once fixed, this should be a pretty even game.

Our game of the week is "The Battle Of The In-Laws!" Coach Dayton and his The Bad-Ass Bug look to take down his sister-in-law and undefeated coach Andi and her The Good Kind of Limping Scrod. For "The Bug", this would be a sweet win following their two game losing streak. For "The Scrod", this would be a sweet win to add to their rooky success.

After a devastating loss to the Dabalalas, Coach Ryan and his St. Louis Pandemic of Love would love to dominate their next opponent to get back to their winning ways and stay on top of the score leader board. Unfortunately for Coach Antonio, that next opponent is his DaBruDoggies who are suffering from the Bye Week Shuffle. Most of the "Doggies" marquee players are out this week. It looks like the "Love" is favored to win this one.

The Average Joes are also suffering from the Bye Week Shuffle with a QB, WR, and a K out for the week. This could mean good news for his opponent The Pan Troglodytes who are coming off of a loss. Both teams should make this game more interesting after some front office work. Despite "The Trogs" bye week K, they shouldn't have any trouble winning this game.

The i c chargers are sporting a 3-1 record and are second place on the score leader board. The Dancers are looking to do something about that. With RB Correll Buckhalter likely out with an ankle injury, the "chargers" may have trouble keeping their winning record this week as they host The Dancers in this non-division game.

Our lucky owner of the week is no stranger to luck. After taking out the i c chargers and the St. Louis Pandemic of Love, both the top two teams on the score leader board, Jim's Dabalalas now face the Easy Wins. Let's just hope the "Las'" luck doesn't totally go to the opposite end of the spectrum.

Good luck all! See you next edition!
