It's time for another fun-filled season of fantasy football with the greatest fantasy league around, the BruDog Football League! We at IADP expect this to be another competitive season. Many owners have already been busy shopping at the free agent market, shoring up their teams. There's also lots of excitement as we welcome our newest owner Jenn and her Wonder Twin Powers to the BFL. Yes, that means the Easy Wins have been retired for a second time.
Note To Owners:
- The NFL schedule now includes Thursday night games for the entire season, as opposed to previous seasons where the games started later in the year. That means, if you have players playing in a Thursday night game, be aware that they will "lock" on Thursday at game time.
- Don't forget that you now have the Reserve Player option. If you'd like to see the option in action, go to our league page and take a look at the Pandemic of Love, who've had to exercise the option due to RB Jahvid Best having being designated by the NFL as Physically Unable To Perform.
If you have a player who is eligible to be placed on reserve, clicking on the box to the left of that player's name will result in an RES position appearing at the bottom of your bench. You can place that player on Reserve by dragging the player down to that RES spot.
- There's a new feature here on the IADP sports page. If you're curious about the history of the BFL and some of the teams that have come and gone over the years, check out the LEAGUE HISTORY section at the bottom of the left column of our sports page.
Preview:
The Bad Ass Weazels travel to Link Stadium to take on the 2011 2nd runner up Lancelot Links. The OG Links are coming off of their best season ever in the BFL and hope to turn that 3rd place win into a Kibble Bowl appearance this season. But, they'll first have to take on the Weazels who are hungry for a playoff birth after not having made it in since their '08 rookie season. The "Guru" has this one pretty even.
In the BFL's brief five year history, there have only been three teams who've tasted the chow of the Kibble Bowl. Two of them will face off this week with the two time winner Dabalalas taking on the '10 winner Cheesesteaks. It looks like the Guru expects the Las efforts to fall mostly on the shoulders of QB Stafford.
There's nothing like a good football rivalry. Bonus if it's a homegrown one. It's also a plus when, in the previous season, one of those rivalry teams makes it to the Kibble Bowl while the other watches it from the porch. Thus, we have the Mighty Long Dogs traveling down the hall to take on the '12 runner up Killer Bunnies. The Dogs are expected to start the season out on a win against the Bunnies. It doesn't help that the Guru doesn't see much happening with the Bunnies running game.
The Dancers have the unenviable task of taking on the reigning Kibble Bowl Champion Pandemic of Love and their quest to hold up the golden bowl for a third time. The Dancers front office has already been at work trying to improve on their running game. It's too early to tell whether it'll pay off, but you can bet that the Dancers will do whatever it takes to taste the victory of the big dish.
The second year vet Love Supremes will host the BFL rookie Wonder Twin Powers. The Twins are one of the first teams this season to run into lineup issues, due to RB Jones-Drew's hold out, which also means that their front office has the option of incorporating the new Reserve Player option. Although, we at IADP think that the option may go away soon since the hold out has recently ended. Either way, the Supremes are expected to attack hard with their running core.
Is this the year that the ic chargers make it to the playoffs having been the only original team not to see a post season appearance? Is this the year that the DaBruDoggies finally make it back to the post season after having missed it for the past two seasons? Can QB Brees carry the New Orleans Saints without their head coach? Will QB Manning come back strong after missing last season to injury and being traded to a new team? Lots of uncertainties. But, you can be certain that Charger stadium will be alive with the sound of hard hits. And, you can be certain that it's going to be another exciting season in the BFL.
Good luck all! See you edition!

Thank you for the first fabulous edition of The Dog Pound. Always a good read. I do have one minor correction though, the Dancers were 2nd place 2 seasons ago and have been in the playoffs. Go Dancers! And everyone else, too, of course.
My apologies to Jill and her Dancers. I was thinking of another team when I typed that. A correction has been made.
