As we hit the final division stretch, the playoff picture is becoming more clear. But, one thing is for certain. The Easy Wins are not headed for the Kibble Bowl.
Week 10 Highlights:
It was a close one between the Bad Ass Weazels and the Dancers. The teams were pretty evenly matched. The Weazels receivers combined for 13, the Dancers 15. 28 for the Weazels running game, 25 for the Dancers. The difference maker in this game would probably be the Asses' kicking game's 16 points and QB Romos bonus for his 58 yd TD pass. In the end, the Weazels won 99-96, and solidified their spot in the playoffs.
The Dabalalas are one step closer to going after their third championship, having beaten the ic chargers 102-66. The chargers didn't see much production on their side of the ball. RB Green-Ellis only rushed for 8 yds. And, McGahee left the game with a hamstring injury. On the other side of the ball, despite a week defensive effort, the rest of the Las put up enough of a balanced game to outscore their opponent.
Unbelievable! The Love Supremes not only won, but they jumped into 1st place and tied the Dabalalas and Cheesesteaks for the longest winning streak record at 7 games. The Supremes were ahead 83-71 going into the Monday night game. The Supremes still had their K and DEF to play. The Bunnies still had a RB and their QB to play. This game would probably have gone to the Bunnies on the shoulders of QB Rodgers, except that the Green Bay Packers did so well through the first three quarters that Rodgers was given the 4th quarter off, ultimately taking away the Bunnies chances and helping the Supies win 117-114.
The Mighty Long Dogs running game was on fire last week, combining for 3 TDs, 357 yds, and 55 points. The Easy Wins combined for. . . Uh. . . yeah. The only sad part about the Dogs game is that their backup Bears DEF put up 3 TDs, 4 Ints, 2 sacks, 2 fum recs, and held their opponents to just 13 points, resulting in 45 total points which would have broken the BFL record for most points scored by a DEF. Regardless, the Dogs had no trouble taking out the Easy Wins 117-29.
The DaBruDoggies were ahead by 4 points going into the Monday night game. The Cheesesteaks still had TE Finley to play. Early in the game, Finley gained 32 yds, leaving the Steaks with a 1 point deficit. Then in the final quarter, Finley caught one last pass which added 3 more points, helping the Steaks beat the Brus 93-91. The third loss in a row knocked the Brus down one position out of the playoff bracket.
Unbelievable! The Pandemic of Love has been knocked out of 1st place for the first time this season. The team that got it done? The Lancelot Links, who beat the Pandemic 101-55. The Love were held to the second least points this season. Unfortunately, two of the Love's players left the game injured. The rest of the squad underperformed for the most part. Also adding to the Love's woes was the fact that marquee QB Brady was on the bench, although he wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome.
Speaking of the Pandemic of Love, owner Ryan is in our spotlight.
Spotlight:
Ryan, the Pandemic suffered their worst defeat ever in the BFL. But, it was a minor setback since you've already solidified your place in the playoffs. IADP just has to know, what was the mood in the locker room after the game? Also, should the Dancers, your next opponent, be afeared that they'll suffer the wrath of the Love?
You know I lost to a great team. So congrats to The Lancelot Links. The mood was that of dismay. It was a tough week for injuries and we'll have to figure out a way to come back from those or it could be a very short playoff run for us. I say good luck to The Dancers. May the best team win. Preview:
The Pandemic of Love will face the Dancers this week, but their health is in question. The Love have a handful of players who haven't practiced this week, and it is yet to be seen whether they will play their respective games. The Dancers are pretty much playing for pride this week. But, you can bet that coach Jill won't go down without a fight. Both teams are predicting high numbers and a fairly even game, but only if the entire Pandemic squad makes it to the line of scrimmage.
The Love Supremes are en route to break the BFL winning streak tie since they are playing the Easy Wins this week. Since there is no chance that the Supies won't make it to the playoffs, they can pretty much relax this week. Especially with Mike Shanahan announcing that the Redskins are going with Sexy Rexy at QB instead of Easy Wins QB John Beck.
The game against the ic chargers is a must win for the DaBruDoggies if they want a shot at the playoffs. At 7th place on the leaderboard, the Brus have to overcome their losing ways of late. And, the chargers are poised to put a damper on the Brus efforts. Once again, the outcome of the game may just be determined by the Brus running game, which has pretty much been non-existence since marquee RB McFadden got hurt.
The Lancelot Links/Bad Ass Weazels matchup will definitely mean more to the Links as they try to maintain their position in the playoff picture. On the other hand, at 7-2-1, the chances of the Weazels not making it to the playoffs are about the same as the Easy Wins making them. It looks like the Lances are in full health and projected to win this one, although coach Joey may want to invest in an alarm clock for WR Jackson who was removed from the lineup last week for sleeping through a team meeting.
Coach Kurt took a quick dip in the player pool and rescued QB Carson Palmer to replace injured starting QB Vick, who is likely questionable this week due to his cracked ribs. Despite the pickup, it looks like the Dabalalas, with a little front office work, will be favored to win this one. Much like the Lancelot Links, the Las have to win this one to maintain their playoff status. And, IADP is guessing that Coach Kurt would have no problem taking away another team's playoff chances.
If you look at the projections for the matchup between the Killer Bunnies and the Mighty Long Dogs, you'd think that Dogs coach Bud drew the short straw this week. It looks like his cross-house rivals are expected to make his Dogs play dead. Of course, most of that projection is QB Rodgers who is on fire this season. A Bunnies win may end up being the final nail in the Dogs coffin this season.
Good luck all! See you next edition!
