Week 15: Playoffs

It's finally here. Playoff week! The week when the top teams of the divisions and the best remaining team of the league come together to determine who will move on to the Championship game and the big time payout.

Week 14 Highlights:
The Bad-Ass Bug ended their season on an unfortunate note, scoring their lowest points to date, and losing to The Pan Troglodytes 54-113. There was no stopping the "Trogs" running game with marquee RB Chris Johnson scoring 35 points and his partner Ray Rice scoring 25.

The former powerhouse Running Wild finished the season on a 4 game losing skid, this time losing to the Average Joes. Lead by BFL record holding RB Adrian Peterson, the "Joes" ended their season at .500. The "Wild" had a solid performance by WR Hakeem Nicks who scored 17, but all except one of the rest of the players scored in single digits.

For the 3rd week in a row, the cheesesteaks put up a 100+ point score, beating the Easy Wins 109-36. The "steaks" put up a well balanced attack with three players scoring in the 20s. The "Wins" did well defensively, but the rest of the team did its usual.

RB Ricky Williams, TE Dallas Clark, and K Ryan Longwell gave The Dancers solid numbers. But, against the likes of QB Drew Brees and RB Ryan Grant as well as K Rob Bironas, who set the new BFL kicking record, The Dancers didn't have a chance against the DaBruDoggies who beat them 124-75.

As of Sunday night, the i c chargers needed a mere 49 points to beat the Dabalalas. But, the "chargers" couldn't get it done, losing to the "Las" 94-108. Not that it mattered much. Both teams already had playoff berths, and they were likely to play each other in the first round of the playoffs.

The Good Kind of Limping Scrod and the St. Louis Pandemic of Love went head to head to determine who would get the final playoff spot. On Sunday evening, the score was 63-103. "Scrod" QB Kurt Warner still had to play on Monday night. The "Scrod" needed 41 points to win the matchup. But, unfortunately for the "Scrod", Warner couldn't get it done and scored just 1 point, resulting in a 103-64 win for the "Love."

Spotlight:
IADP decided to travel to the offices of the remaining BFL teams for closing statements from each owner.

Jill (The Dancers): Although I'm a BFL first timer and know nothing about football, I can't believe I didn't make the playoffs! Thank you everyone for a great season and intro to the BFL and I can't wait until next year!

Caren (Running Wild): Who knew that running wild for so many weeks required so much stamina to not peter out at the end???Ah well, good night, good luck to the rest of those in the hunt; and has anyone seen my masseuse and wine??

Kurt: "Merry Christmas you filthy animals!"

Dayton: It was rigged, WTF, bite me! I will return to be a contender. Head Coaches Emily/Bug said, "Oh well, Dan Synder sucks & so did we; our top players let us down or Dad made lousy picks."
Good luck to everyone; have a great Christmas & New Year!

Joey: Ditto!

Andi: It totally sucks to have come so close to the playoffs without making it, but I'm glad the Pandemic got there - hats off to coach Ryan. So here's wishing everyone in the BFL a merry Chrismahanakwazavus and a happy New Year! Go Teams!!

Antonio: Oh! Has the season started?

Playoff Previews:
Hoping to continue their late season winning streak, the East Division winner DaBruDoggies travel west to take on the Central Division winner St. Louis Pandemic of Love. As the lowest team on the leader board in the playoffs, the "Doggies" have quite the task ahead of them. They have a better record at 10-4, vs. the "Loves'" 8-6 record. But, the "Love" is a high scoring squad who have scored 100+ points nine times this season.

The West Division winner Dabalalas will host the BFL wildcard i c chargers. Both teams have battled hard this season to make it to the top of their division. Both owners would love to make it to the big game. But, this week's playoff matchup will probably mean more for "chargers" coach Mike, who is one of our original owners, but who has never made it to the BFL playoffs. As of this posting, the i c chargers are favored to win this one.

Good luck playoff teams! See you next edition!
