Well, it's Week 10 and we're ready to rock! Time to get all the hits, the bangs and the blocks. It's the game of the week that's comin' your way. The [insert your team name here] and the [insert your opponent's team name here] are ready to play. We gotta get ready, we gotta get right. 'cause the BruDog Football league kicks off! Well Alllllriiiight!
Week 9 Highlights:
It was a tight one, but The Dancers rehearsed and rehearsed until they got their performance right, and thus beat the Dabalalas 107-100. With solid performances by marquee WR Larry Fitzgerald and a few others, The Dancers tour jetéd themselves out of their three game losing streak.
Thanks to a powerful Steelers DST, Running Wild dashed all over The Pan Troglodytes 123-94. The "Trogs" have a great running game that accounted for 45 of their points and a defense that accounted for 18, but it wasn't enough as the rest of the team scored single digits.
Average Joes owner Kevin made the unprecedented move of dropping veteran TE Jason Witten for a rookie who scored a total of 15 points over the first eight weeks of the season. Quite a gamble, but it paid off as that rookie, Brandon Pettigrew scored a respectable 13 points which helped the "Joes" win 116-75 over the cheesesteaks. the cheesesteaks would have scored more with backup QB Jay Cutler who scored an impressive 31 points, but it still wouldn't have been enough.
In The Bad-Ass Bug's 103-94 loss to The St. Louis Pandemic of Love, one lineup change would have changed the outcome of the game. "Bug" reserve TE Greg Olsen scored a monster 25 points, which would have not only given "The Bug" the win, but would have broken the BFL record. But, this is fantasy football. Sometimes the coin just doesn't cooperate.
The DaBruDoggies seem to be back to form as they lost a not so close game against The Good Kind of Limping Scrod. The combination of an uncharacteristic 15 points from "Doggies" QB Drew Brees and an impressive 40 point game by "Scrod" QB Kurt Warner, the DaBruDoggies didn't stand much of a chance.
The Easy Wins suffered a setback in week 9. No. 2 WR Chris Henry suffered a broken arm and is now out for the season. Did this make a difference in their 91-22 loss to the i c chargers? Um, no. But, the loss put the i c chargers back into the above .500 category.
Note to owners:
- It hasn't been an issue this season, but there is only one week left to offer trades. Due to NFL.com's fantasy trade deadline rule, you will not be able to trade players after November 17.
- From now through the end of the BFL season, the NFL will have its Thursday night games. This means, if you have players who play for teams that are scheduled for a Thursday game, you should keep in mind that those players will be locked-in five minutes before their respective games.
Previews:
After chewing up the cheesesteaks, the Average Joes now look to take a bite out of the i c chargers and continue on their win steak. The "chargers" have their work cut out for them as the "Joes" are slightly favored and are number two on the score leader board.
The DaBruDoggies are fighting to stay above .500. The Bad-Ass Bug are fighting to stay alive. The "Doggies" will rely on their passing and defensive game. "The Bug" will rely on their rushing and receiving core. Expect this to be a close game with the winner scoring much more than just a W.
the cheesesteaks are also fighting to stay alive as they will be hosted by The Pan Troglodytes. After some front office work, including "Trogs" K Lawrence Tynes who is on a bye, this should be a fairly even game.
The Dabalalas are in an unusual spot this season. Unlike past seasons of the BFL, they are in the middle of the pack. The "Las" have always benefitted from great drafts and a healthy dose of good luck. As of this posting, the Dabalalas are slightly favored over The Good Kind of Limping Scrod, but IADP is sure that Coach Jim wouldn't mind another dose of luck to keep their record on the winning side.
After rolling over The Pan Troglodytes, Running Wild now travels to the St. Louis Pandemic of Love. Running Wild has become a powerhouse team in the BFL. They remain on top of the East Division and have moved into 3rd place on the score leader board. They'll have quite the fight this week as they face the mighty "Love" who are on a three game win streak and remain on top of the score leader board.
The Dancers are about to go on a two game win streak as they face the disconsolate Easy Wins. The "Wins" went shopping at the "Free Agent Market" and picked up Seattle WR Deon Butler to fill injured WR Chris Henry's shoes, so The Dancers had better look out.
Good luck all! See you next edition!
