Week 7 Highlights:
The Dabalalas came into week 7 against the DaBruDoggies with a four game winning streak and almost made it five. But unfortunately, QB Donovan McNabb and RB Brian Westbrook kept that from happening. The "Las" needed their Eagles players to score 32 points on Monday, a fairly easy task for their top QB and RB. But alas, McNabb only scored 12, and Westbrook left the game injured. In the end, the "Doggies" prevailed 93-74.
i c chargers QB Carlson Palmer threw 5 TD passes and scored 39 points. Unfortunately, he was on reserve behind QB Matt Schaub who only scored 22, which in itself, is a good performance for a QB. But, it wasn't enough to beat The Good Kind of Limping Scrod who came away with a 87-83 win. The "Scrod", once again, are back on top with the best record in the BFL.
Most fantasy owners coach their teams from their living rooms or offices. cheesesteaks owner Kurt took a different approach this past Monday. Kurt coached from the stadium itself, and it seemed to work as his team beat The Dancers 142-107. WR DeSean Jackson scored 24 and the Eagles DST scored a TD, an INT, 3 fumble recoveries, and 6 sacks for a score of 24. The Dancers had a decent performance, but it wasn't enough against Kurt's hands on style.
It was a tight one, but the St. Louis Pandemic of Love managed to win against the Average Joes 117-113. Despite being in 2nd place in the Central Division, the "Love" continues to stay on top of the score leader board, which makes them the "perpetual wild card team." By the way, "Joes" scored above 100 for the first time this season.
For four weeks straight, The Pan Troglodytes scored no more than 67 points a game. Coach Joey tweaked and adjusted each week. All that work seems to have payed off as, for the second week in a row, "The Trogs" scored above 100 resulting in wins. This past week's win was against the Easy Wins, but their 109-32 win puts "The Trogs" at 4th place on the score leader board.
After starting the season 1-3, The Bad-Ass Bug have made quite a turnaround and are now on a three game win streak. Win number three came by way of Running Wild, who "The Bug" took down 113-92. Despite their loss, the "Wild" are still on top of the Eastern Division and are likely to be there for a while since they don't have their next division game until week 12. Speaking of Running Wild, their owner, Caren, is in our spotlight this week.
Spotlight:
Caren, you are currently on top of the Eastern Division and have been for a while now. With the DaBruDoggies right on your tail, and three of your next four opponents being powerhouse teams, do you have a strategy for maintaining your success?
Hmmm, strategy? Well, there hasn't really been a clear cut strategy to begin with, I mean seriously.....the name of the team IS Running Wild. I will say that I am honestly surprised I've done as well as I have, but as Owner Jim can probably agree; there is something to be said for sheer luck. I do have only the highest regard for the other teams and hope that I can continue playing hard and winning a few games.
Previews:
The Dancers have been having QB trouble over the past couple of weeks. Eli Manning hasn't been putting up great numbers, and Jason Campbell plays for the Redskins. . . 'nough said. So, it looks like The Dancers may need to rely on their receiving core this week as they face the St. Louis Pandemic of Love. The "Guru" has the "Love" favored in this match-up.
The Dabalalas travel to Philly to take on the cheesesteaks. The "Las" have some front office work to do, as they are facing the "bye week shuffle." Owner Jim Lawson has two WR's and DST on a bye this week. After an impressive 142 points last week, the cheesesteaks will want to take advantage of their momentum, which could spell trouble for the "Las."
At 1st place in the West Division and 3rd place on the score leader board, the i c chargers are a successful team. This week, they are facing the DaBruDoggies who are slowly trying to find success after some less than stellar games this season. IADP snuck into the "Doggies" practice facility and overheard coach Antonio yelling, "Brees! I want you to score seven touchdowns this week!" We shall see.
It looks like owner Joey needs to go shopping at the free agent market once again to fix his "bye week shuffle" situation. WR Wes Welker is on a bye and, as of this posting, has no backup. Joey's The Pan Troglodytes are facing the mighty The Good Kind of Limping Scrod. After some front office work, this game should be tighter.
The "Guru" has The Bad-Ass Bug and the Average Joes pretty even this week. . . in numbers, that is. But, when it comes to heart, The Bad-Ass Bug may have this one in the bag. After a rocky start to the season, they have now won their last three and have pulled even with the rest of the teams in their division. "The Bug" will have to contend with the "Joes'" powerful running game. IADP considers this to be its game of the week.
Finally, our lucky team of the week is Running Wild. The "Wild" K Stephen Gostkowski has a bye, but it shouldn't make any difference against the ever-so-stomped-upon Easy Wins.
Good luck all! See you next edition!
