It's here! Opening week! Season 7! And, the BFL has experienced a major shakeup with the owners' decision to mix up the league's divisions. For some, the look hasn't changed much. The Cheesesteaks, Lancelot Links, and Bad Ass Weazals remain division rivals. For others, new rivalries will develop. The league is anticipating a huge rivalry between new division mates current BFL champion Mighty Long Dogs and two-time champion Pandemic of Love. Plus, we'd like to welcome the Half Smokes to the league.
We're in for another great season. And, In And Around The Dog Pound is here to keep you informed.
Preview:
The Pandemic of Love will host the ic chargers, pitting future hall of fame QB P. Manning against future hall of fame QB T. Brady. charger coach Mike must have felt like he drew the short straw in the recent division shake up as his chargers are now in the same division as perennial-playoff-prospect Pandemic of Love (say that three times) and 2012 champion Mighty Long Dogs. It's always hard to predict the first game of the season, but IADP thinks that the Love will take this one.
The Love Supremes have been given the unenviable task of taking on the current league champion Mighty Long Dogs in week 1. This game features another great QB matchup with the return of injured Supies QB R. Griffin III and 2012 late season standout C. Kaepernick. The general consensus around the league is that the Long Dogs may have had the best draft this season and that they stand a good chance of pulling off the first championship repeat since the Dabalalas did it in '08 and '09. All eyes may be on the Supies to see if they can slow down the Mighty train.
The Half Smokes make their BFL debut against the Dabalalas. It's no secret that Smokies owner Nathan has been coaching the Love Supremes for years. But, his reputation is now on the line as his name is now attached to his own team. In other news, rumor has it that the Las general management plans to take a more active role this season. And, so far, it shows as the Las went free agent shopping early this season. IADP is looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.
In the great division shakeup of '13, the Killer Bunnies and the DaBruDoggies managed to stay division rivals. Both coaches, Caren of the Bunnies and Antonio of the Brus, carried over their star QB's, 2012 second ranked A. Rodgers and topped ranked D. Brees, respectively. Both carried their respective BFL teams last season. And, it looks like, at least in week 1, it'll be the case this season. The Bunnies also held over WR V. Cruz and managed to draft the highly ranked RB A. Morris. So, they should give the Saint Bernard Division a good run for its money.
It looks like the Lancelot Links will be all about running the ball this season as their lineup includes 2012's top two rated RB's, A. Peterson and BFL record holder D. Martin. The Dancers aren't exactly lacking in the ground attack, though. They've retained the services of Super Bowl winning RB R. Rice. The NFL.com guru isn't projecting any major standouts in this game. IADP is taking a wait and see attitude with these two teams.
The Cheesesteaks and the Bad Ass Weazels remain division rivals and will face each other in week 1. This will be an interesting one to watch because the Weazels have drafted former Steaks QB, and BFL record holder, M. Vick. After years of headlining for the Cheeses, Vick was finally released in week 14 last season by owner Kurt after his production dropped. Vick is working with a new coach in the NFL, so it remains to be seen if he can put up the numbers he did when he scored the most points ever by a BFL player in 2010.
Good luck all! See you next edition!
